Another couple of good roads in N. Yorkshire that I remember when I lived in Skipton were
The road from Carleton over to Colne in Lancashire and the Road from Kettlewell over to Hawes very fast and a lot like roads on the Manx especially when quiet

as you ask then, i got three

1st - Rhayader to Cwmystwyth (Elan valley road used to take you to Myherin stages) awesome bit of road - some BIG drops, smooth tarmac, great views

2nd - Tregaron to Abergwesyn (via Tywi forest) just a minor road into the forests west of Builth Wells - great single track lanes through forests, over moorlands and very up and down

3rd - B3081 Sixpenny Handley to Shaftesbury (via Zig Zag hill) just up the road from Bournemouth - lovely drive on top of the Cranbourne Chase then into the 4 'monte carlo' zig zag hairpins (will be used in the southern tour,((whenever that happens))

HAVE TO AGREE WITH GRUM ON 1 and 2 !

Fantastic roads. Are they used on the Lakes tour?

Yeah my dads done the R.L Brown between about 77-81.

No i wish they were used on the Lakes Tour, could cause a bit of a problem though with over 100 cars using it and others coming the other way

Proper rallying is done down the lanes!

Hi, I don't suppose he's got a copy of the results and/or roadbook hanging around. I lost mine many years ago in a house move. Would love to get copies again for the scrap book

Here in Ireland , for me it's Molls Gap in Killarney , the Frank Healy Pass down there too , and Up around the Coast of Donegal , fabulous sweeping 2 lane black top.
