hi i think 2500 would be top money for it ,i would see it around 1500 but an original mex is very desirable at the moment.there was one for sale last week on the avo site asking price was 3250,it was stripped out but very sound and complete and it sold very quick.i still think that you could not go wrong if you had to give 2500 as long as it was all there as the bits are very had to find these days hope this helps
Buying a fake Harrier etc is not too bad really cos any escort mk1/2 is worth about the same wiether it's a Harrier , sport , mexico , rs2000 etc or modded 1100L .
d'ya reckon, I think not.
Mex and RS II are worth 2-3 K more than a Harrier, I think most would be agrieved at being done over for 4-5 K, I would

Around here any escort (no matter what it is) is worth about the same . For example a clean 2 door 1100L with a x-flow/pinto in it will sell for the same price as a good mexico or harrier will . People these days aren't bothered about what they are/were originally , all they want is a rot free straight motor too drive . All the fast clean motors around here are original 1100 and 1300 shopper models and get £10,000-£20,000 offers on them . People have realised that these shells are better than original RS ones as they've had a much easier life with less boy racer owners crashing them etc etc . They can also be easily uprated to RS spec or better and they will have much less rot and shonky repair work done on them over the years . My mates just paid £3000 for a bog standard 1100 pop mk2 escort as a base cos all the rs' he looked at were overpiced rust heaps !!!!!!!!

Don't buy it mate , it's a rot box and will need £10,000 of bodywork at least . It's only worth buying if you get it cheap and then re-shell it . Even then it's cheaper to buy a nice one . Try and buy a car with a solid bulkhead + "A" posts , boot floor + inner wheel arch areas as this is where the big money repair work sets in . Rust in sills , wings , top plates , rear arches etc etc is nothing too drastic for the restorers so don't dismiss a shell with rust in these areas .

some debate going on here guys....the topic is gone arse if ya ask me, the guy only wanted to know what he should expect to pay for the car....stick to the topic for his sake .....as samh says 2500 would be a good price...get it bought and take it from there...if ya dont fancy doing the work stick it on ebay......a mate of mine had a black mexico, caught fire & damaged the hole rear end and ****pit, he kept the log book, sold the front end for €1200 or so...that was around 3 years ago now
Gaz I see your here making friends again 3rd time lucky
basically in answer to the question no one can give you an idea without seeing the how bad the shell is, Gaz is right in part that if the bulkhead and a panels are ok the rest isnt too bad
if it's totally knackered ! probably a fair price in todays market is £1500ish
if the shells repairable but needing a fair amount of work nearer £2500
if it's all there and just a bit crusty eg wheel archs sills etc £more couldnt honestly say without looking, the other thing to bear in mind is past work, I would prefer to buy a rotten mex and sort it then a plated up one that involves ripping all the past bodges off and losing all the datums
Exactly, I think you'll find Harrier's going for 6-7 K not 3 i.e. 3-4 K difference in price
No , if you stick all the same harrier bits (1600xf and some recaros) on the clean 1100L body then it will sell for the same .
