Brian Slark is of course one of the many who served their time at the immortal Downton Engineering (that built the works Mini engines among other things).
The list of those who worked for Daniel and Bunty Richmond and went on to set up their own, initially A series, tuning operations:
Richard Longman
Janos Odor
Steve Harris
Bill Quine
Brian Slark
Peter Vaughan
Richard Miles
anyone know others?
...and no, I will not agree that 157 at the wheels from a Pinto would be fully flexible to drive...from anyone.

Forgot about Bill Quine I think he is still in Dinton at the back of his brother-in-laws timber yard.
He did my RS2000 back in 1981 the fastest escort I have ever driven on a single carb (38 Dgas)
I must go and see him he's only 20 miles away!

nice figures there richy, sounds like brett knows a thing or two when it comes to the old boat anchor we all call pinto. not bad labour rates either as SPC charged me £90 + vat, and i thought that was cheap
not sure there is many miles left in my engine so may have to tap him up for a freshen up

Yes, THE Richard Longman (and THE Jan Odor of Janspeed). Gordon Spice is another name who once worked at Downton but in sales, not engineering. Steve Harris also operates a rolling road - at Cranbourne, convenient to the Bournemouth/Salisbury axis.
Why is it people still seek to dispute comments on power figures when a comment is merely passed that driveability IS affected. 200+ bhp Pintos (which 157 at wheels is, despite the remaining large numbers of believers in 20 bhp power losses from flywheel) involve a trade-off. A trade off that affects driveability and usually makes them slower overall unless competing in circuit racing or speed(drag/sprint/hillclimb, and then only in the dry) events. Was reading recently about the historic rally man said to have 220 bhp from a new Pinto. More fool him for making his car slower overall.
