@ 17 yrs old, (many moons ago ) first car was a factory black Mk1 Mex . Smashed it up .
Real good car and didnt realise how good until later in life .

It was the Professionals that got me interested, I must have been 11 years old at the time

I bought my first 2 door Mk2 (orange popster) when I was 17, before I'd passed my car test, it sat in the garage at home and I started to "Do it up" I realised early on that it was a shitter and had it collected by the scrap man - it still had the F O R D grille on it, and black beta trim, and doors the lot - it had cost me £50, and I'd already bought number 2 by then, a Midnight blue 1.3 L from my next door but one neighbour for £100.

I thought I'd teach myself to weld so I got a Hobby mig from Halfords and went to my local panel suppliers and bought :wings, floor pans, door skins, sills, wheel arches and back panel (This was clearly another lovely car )

I didn't pass my car test until I was 20, but as I'd passed my bike test at 17 I wasn't too fussed - I was running round on a brand new Yamaha RD350YPVS, most of my mates had Fiestas, so I was the fastest thing on the road

Got my first road legal Mk2 when I was 21 - My Harrier, and only sold it to John Hall a couple of years ago

I've never been without a Mk2 since the age of 17, that's 23 years of owning them. My younger Brother has had a couple too

It was 1987 and I was 17 just passed my driving test and left school to start work. my dad was a panelbeater and said I should put a bid on a insurence right of and if i won he would clean it up for me,so i put $400 on this 1969 mk1 1100 deluxe. that was it, there was no going back!! .
I had that car for the next 5 years cryed when I sold it but that wasn't the end of the escorts I sold my mk1 for a mk2 1600 sport
