my cousin had been rallying mexicos (in the early 1970's mexico challenge)
and then progressed to mk1 RS2000 and the autosport series, in 1976 he bought a dessie McCartney group 1 spec RS2000 mk2 (LIA 13), first one i ever saw and fell in love with them, bought my first RS (MK2 mexico) in 1979, and then a MK2 RS 2000 in riviera blue (later sold to Phill Collins the rally driver)

I got into them when i was about 14 all the boyracers used a carpark next to my dads (he hated them ) i remember vans with the rear plate set into the door behind perspex .
Started working in a factory and the first day i went there was an rs 2 signal amber with bvr and it looked the mutts then in about 88 i went with my dad to manchester for a car and seen a white X pack,bought my first mk1 shortly after had a few mk2's and a nice mk1 since.

So can I Graham, used to dribble all over Haynes showroom floor in the mid '70's but could never afford one. When I could they were out of production so turned my head to an RS1600i then when I got my act together they were out of production!! so I purchased a year old one and have still got it!!

dragged into keilder forest at an early age. bda on full chat got me hooked straight away. first car was a 1.3 pop when i passed my test at 17. thought i was roger clark. had one on and off ever since. still waiting for my bda though, maybe one day.

Had my first mk1 at the age of 17 back in 1985 it was a mint 1300E which my old man said to me dont take it to the pub so what did i do! took it to the pub and ive never seen it to this day, (rotton B__tards) owned it for 38 days, doomed from the start!! But apart from a couple of months gap after that event Ive never been without a mk1 ever since although maybe not on the road though

since im a wee lad on this board its probably been 15 yeras or so...bought my first mk1 in 1998 when i was 21....that went to scrap heaven, bough a few mk1 cars & vans & a mk2 van & just got the mexico when they were cheap enough to buy....thats 5 years or so ago is when i got my first RS...my dad used to have fords all his life til he went working for himself which was in 86 so he had to buy a van....now he is back with FORD as he bought a new 140bhp tranny van...my bro also has a tranny van....

where i live in swinton manchester taffr ! used to be a little night club called the dukes ! all the lads who owned rs2000s , mexicos and harriers used to meet there on week nights and weekends ! every car was white ?? some of the lads fitted cherry bomb exhausts on there cars ! and had stripped all the interior out to go faster ! i used to sit and look at the cars wishing i had one ! when mines done i told the wife im gonna drive it straight to the dukes ! wich is now a born again christian gaff ?? and do a ****in big dounut on the front !

I used to walk past a signal yellow RS2 with BVR and them very 80's black headlamp covers every day goin to school in Glenrothes, must've been about 1980 or 81... gulp
It belonged to Raymond Readie and I was well and truly bitten, promised myself I'd have 1 o them 1 day

while we're on the subject of being easily led...
I've got my next door neighbour's young lad to thank for my dislocated shoulder, cos he had a LC And I "had to have 1 o them too"
