stripping back an engine bay has got to be one of the worst jobs going so bleedin fiddly ,as i should know as doing exactly the same thing at the moment .
good work mate will shape up soon ,but its amazing how many hours it takes to do it properly.

It's now in etch primer, and seam sealed.

It looks the absolute bollocks too (even though I say so myself)

The small areas of rot we found have all been cut out completely and new metal seam welded in then all welds ground flush to the surrounding bodywork.

With the paint on they are 100% invisible

I've also changed the stem seals and set the valve clearances today.

              This helped a lot :

A proper VL Churchill valve spring compressor I found on EBAY last week

The same tool shown in the Ford workshop manual.
              Cheers Rob.

thanks for all the interest, I missed yesterdays installment, but we were on it all day (I was off work with the dayshift )

doesnt look much different in yesterdays evenings pic, but basically we finished all the welding and grinding and da'ing

but come this morning with renewed enthusiasm I ended up bare metaling a load more of it, but didnt take any pics

so after a panel wipe Mr H kitted up we put the car in a big condom and he started squirting

I had a go as well and found it not too bad, I'm painting the engine bay in aerosolls and I'm pretty reasonable with them, but hadnt played much with spray guns before, going to buy one now

then while Mr H done my stem seals with his new bestest tool, I put the seam sealer on

chuffed to bits, it's perfect, pics not the best, big thanks to Mr H for his help today, couldnt have done it with out him

tomorow I'm going to be squirting yellow
                            Cheers Glyn
