    My thoughts on values are..
Mint original examples (original paint/panels) will always be worth a lot more than mint/concours restored cars. Upwards of £18k and will rise as the years go by.
There are cars out there that are not as clean as worthers, but are better original cars so would fetch more money.
I know of at least two examples in the past few months to have had offers over £20k.

There are a lot of passengers on the Escort scene at the moment who are pushing prices up..but once they get fed up and move to something else prices might level out..but only for a good/average restored car.

I looked at Ian's car and even though I think it is amazing I wanted a car that I can use on a weekend and enjoy driving without worrying about every puddle and stone chip. The reason I have come back to the MK2's after 14 years away is the smile it puts on your face as you drive round country roads with none of your modern day comforts and a great sound from the exhaust. That's what RS's were about and what they should be about now IMO.

I've bought a T Reg restored car that is not perfect by any means and wants some changes made to it, but I can take it out of the garage tomorrow and drive it without fear. I am lucky to be able to afford the RS2 as a second car as my finances are ok, but £5k-£7k is still alot of money for something that sits in your garage for 250 - 300 days a year!!!

As for Ian losing £20k on his car I have just sold my Range Rover Sport which I bought new in March this year and lost £12k....... And it only did 26mpg

I wish Ian all the best and hope to see the new owner with the car at shows in 2008 as the more 'older' cars that turn up the better.
                    Cheers

Come on lads... We are here because we love Escorts..If we all had spare cash we would spend it on our cars. Better brakes, seats, wheels, new parts ect...Three years ago, I had fast bikes, nice cars, big house and then became very ill and cant work at the mo. Big shock .Lost the lot,
                      o well....
But that odd hour playing with the car is a god send. So lets just get on with keeping these cars on the road and stop bitching about who is spending / not giving/ not helping. If someone is working in a shed to build is car, Give him credit. It might not be as good as worthers ( THE BENCH MARK), but both people did their best... To keep the best cars in the world on the road. There is more to life...................

ive not read what everyone has said in this thread as i am pushed for time currently, but in response to ruddy's initial comment, i'd say prices have risen at an unrealistic rate due to deman/greed, i'd like to see things cool off a little so people dont panic buy and pay over the odds, i've been sly looking for another car, but REFUSE to pay what i think is an unreasonable amount for a knackered old banger, i'll just lurk until i see something at a realistic price
