My point being there is a reason for that, this being that who wants to pay 20 K for a MkII escort, at least a nigh-on STD one, albeit in better than factory condition.
i'd pay £20k all day long for a non-standard rs1800.........
panic, panic, couldnt give a **** if they went down to £500!
ur rite paul. most of the people that have escorts either rs2000,1800,s,mexicos. harriers sports modified stanard or anyting with the blue oval have them because of wot they are and the love for them so at the end of the day its only the men thats buyn them cheap and taken a big kill at them are the ones that it will hurt. for the likes of ian and gerard to only mention two and there is others who have spent thousands restoring there pride and joys and has enjoyd wot they has got from it with pride at the end result so realy if it was bout wot price they are or wot they are go is it realy goin to make a differance to the people that love the only car worth haven. the best car ever made the ford escort.
well thats my thot on it.
Just to set the record straight, i dont ever remember MOANING about paying X for any part. I could be wrong, i dont think so. The money is irrelavant, i dont attach a value to the money at all. Ive no more money than anybody else on this board, i just choose to spend mine where i want. I dont smoke or drink or have a mortgage, simple, i scratch a decent living doing what i know. thats it. I honesty dont care about losing 20k, imagine, if i,d given the spending half a thought, Worthers wouldn,t be what it is today. I simply got lost in the detail and kept looking for more. As for paying too much for bits, how long do you wait for a bit ??? month, year, may never happen. i dont think like that, just do it. Worthers gave me a great deal of personal satisfaction for many reasons. Firstly, completeing the car, the reaction to the car and the admiration the car has attracted. As for being critisied for listing bits on the bay, didn,t see anyone putting their hand in the air to give my back what i,d paid in total for Worthers. Still, there you go. Its true, i did lose the idea of standard and modded, i tried to build a car that i would have ordered in 78, bear in mind, in 78 your mindset wouldn,t have been, do i want a modded or standard car, i think not. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Do it again ?? i think not. For now the money will go towards making my daughters lifes comfortable and will go towards freeing up more time for me to concentrate on them. As i said before, i will watch from afar and wait for the next person to put his neck on the line, or shall i say wallet. To me, money doesnt, have a value, its what you can do with it that has the value, oh, and by way, watch this space with the dipstick and tube
I agree. It's your money to spend how you wish and the enjoyment has been had! I lost over £5000 on a z4 in 4 months, and with what i have spent on my porker will probably loose a similar amount again! I've had many people in the past give the old "you must be loaded line" But as ian i don't smoke, don't go on the **** much(Been out with rick and the custom more times this year on events than with the wife ) and like to live for now etc! I also know how easy it is to get addicted to buying new parts, i've spent over ians spend on my cossie(albeit over 12years), but i wouldn't change a thing. Loved every minute! I also reckon if a lot of people on here sat down and worked out what they have spent on their cars they'd get a shock!! Can't be worse than £10000 on my wedding this year! Now that is mad

Any car is only worth what some one is prepared to pay for it, be it £5000 or £50,000. Price is not the issue its enjoyment and desireability.
I dont know Ian or any others on here personally but feel that its about time the subject was finished with. Doesn't matter what it cost him or what he sold it for it's was Ian's car so therefore was up to him what he did with it. After all we would all sell our cars for whatever we could get for them if we needed the money to help our families out. I did 2 years ago with my Stag
But as ian i don't smoke, don't go on the **** much(Been out with rick and the custom more times this year on events than with the wife ) and like to live for now etc!
