I think Mark has hit on something by mentioning the AutoGlym concours competition

For me this is a much fairer competition than those organised by the RSOC, you have a seeming level playing field, and you would be competing against all makes, from Minis to Jaguars.

I'd seriously consider it if Worthers sat in my garage

thanks for all the comments guys, it appears ive arrived at the brickwall . I,m not one for tittle tattle however, i did forget to mention one qoute from last nights chat. While my dash and gearbox gaitor where being mentioned i was also told the flash of blue paint on the rear drum was the wrong colour and i quote "put on too thick". It was suggested, again i quote "buy yourself a £20 airbrush" my reply was, so in 78 this was applied with an airbrush ?? there was a silence, summed up the phone call really. For the final time, coming last doesn,t matter to me. following the judging sheet does. I,m not one for sitting on someones shoulder. Now i know how Lewis felt at Monoco.

Do what I have done Ian , complete the build , take it for an MOT , drive it 5 miles home and stick it in the garage. Car is too clean to use and I hate concours , mine is currently an expensive ornament. Have had a few chancers offering stupid money and they have been told where to go.

Tim's right as far as I'm aware Ian. National Day is always independant from regional RSOC concours.

Also as CC has stated, with pre '81 vehicles, you can quite often be judged by someone with little knowledge of the model.

Your car has had more dedication & effort put in to it than any other resto I've witnessed & deserves to be shown in RSOC concours events as a result but the politics can far out way the fun at times - as said - no two judges see things the same, however most people will just want to see it there!

I would give the Autoglym etc. events some serious consideration - I would love to see a Mk2 win that

Hi Ian, I know nothing on how concours work. This is how I sort of understand it. Could be wrong.

Standard Class : As sold from the product literature and optional extras on that product list.

Modified : anything over and above the standard spec. So any item from the rallye sport book would be classed as a modification.

I think your best to compete in next years Autoglym contest, I think its judged in a very fair way.

Problem is with Worthers is where do you place it, its not modified enough to compete in modified. Its far from working class, not driven (Dave used to do track events one day, concours the next ), the changes you have made take the car away from Standard class.

Hope you get it sorted, because you should share your creation with everyone and not get knocked for it !

we all know what your car is like, and we all know what you think of your car, its your baby, built how you wanted it and thats it

you must have been expecting this from the outset, so dont get too ****ed about it - bet Gerard dont and a few others that show their cars - you all know the time and effort thats gone into them ...... NOW ITS TIME TO ENJOY THE THING !!!!

Modifications

- Changes, modifications and updating made by Rolls-Royce
or its factory-appointed representatives are accepted. This includes special carburetion

it's not really a discussion I can get into 'cause I've never been into trailer queening it but do like to see cars that look like they've just come off the line etc.
The trophies at most of the shows I've ever been to seem to get awarded to the people with the most "friends" in the scene regardless of whether their car was the best of the day or not, it's all very political and people decide a lot of the time dependent more so on their ideals than what is specified to judge cars on.

Ian you've a great car that's taken many a heart breaking moment to complete, if you don't get a trophy from the RSOC then **** 'em, they're close to imploding anyway at the mo, just enjoy giving other enthusiasts something fascinating to look at and chatting with them, if some don't like what you've done so what, if they can do better where is their car, forget the RSOC and just enjoy your achievement

Cannot understand why you are ****ed of a this moment in time, you say you have had a problem with someone or people from the RSOC and as yet you have not named but you want others on the board guess who.
Firstly it would be wise to take this type of thread onto the RSOC board with you being a fully paid up member for other RSOC for other members to comment on.

I have been in concours since the early 90s and this sort of problem with standards and whats right wrong ect as been going on for a very long time and it will not change.

You bought your car took it to bits and rebuilt it back to your desired taste and give credit to you one of the sharpest jobs I have seen.
But lets say you put it in standard class the word on the street would nice that but look at the mods? You go for modified it be the same but not enough mods maybe for the judge.Not sure which is the best way to go old Worthers is stuck in the middle at the moment.
Autoglym may be a good choice of show to attend I did one back in 1996 at the Gmex centre it may be the way forword for you to enjoy the car.

worthers is a modified car so how can john hughes tell him it is too shiney there is a big difference between a standard and a modified car or is the gimp too blind to see this:winka:

Your car is all that matters Ian. It's fantastic.

Whether or not the RSOC give you a trophy is irrelevant.

I suggest you reread the Classic Ford feature, which says everything that's important on Worthers.
