If that's you're reasoning the first cars to sent to the forests must surely be the remaining 18s and 16s, if people keep on consuming these cars when will it stop as these people with 50-100K for a car will destroy even the most expensive shells to fulfill their greed, and at first the "ordinary" RS's will then be consumed and then it really will mean the 18s will it.
BTW as I said nobody's forcing people to hurtle through the forests are they?
Where does 'greed' come into it?? It's a simply case of demand massively outweighing supply. Nobody 'forced' you to want an RS2000 road car but you went out and bought one...therefore removing the opportunity for someone else to own and cherish it. I really quite fancy a Ferrari 288 GTO though I don't have the means to buy one, but you won't hear me branding those who can afford them as greedy...that in my opinion really would be a narrow minded way of looking at it.

Like I say it's an emotive subject, we are all entitled to our opinions, and I'm certainly not knocking yours by the way.

I see nothing wrong with this car being turned into a rally car.
Where are all the shells coming from that are being chucked at the scenery ?
From good condition road cars of course.
If it were my car I certainly wouldn't be leaving it as a std 1300 xl when a much more appealing car could be made out of it.

i contacted the guy & yes its going to be RALLIED, this seems to be a very touchy subject for some people...we all know that guys who rally cars are far more well off than the ordinary joe-soap...as brian mentioned money talks....the way things are going with escorts I would not be surprised if somebody starts to remanufacture shells....nearly everything else is available for them new/ remanufactured....so those of us who own good rs cars or standard ones should hold onto them as prices are only gonna keep rising....a few people in ireland have said the bubble will burst for the escort scene & other rear wheel drive cars will take over....i dont think so as the cars are so easily to modify

At least if I buy an RS I know that it will never end up being removed from the market by converting it into a rally car, so that's one more saved.

Well this is just getting silly with the name calling, simply because my opinion differs from yours...must be nice to be right all the time. You've already called me narrow-minded and greedy...now I'm ridiculous also. Never mind, I've been called a lot worse

do you think the owner of this car is ok to choose the fate of this car...
BTW I'm not into calling people names but it just annoys me that the prices are sent spiraling because a few, take good cars off the roads just to wreck them, if these people have so much money why don't they buy a proper rally car that'll go much faster than a Mk1 or 2 ever will around a stage, like a Cossie Escort.
This car is particularly wasteful as it's only done 12K, there can only be a handful of these left.

The rallying was just a means to an end, i.e. sell road cars.
If you manage to write your Mex off and you don't consider that a waste then good luck to you, however I suspect that like most road rallies that I've seen like at Porlock hill etc, that the cars don't get chucked around properly and therefore don't get damaged, so I wouldn't call that rallying either.

not sure what goes on at portlock hill but daylight road rallys arent intented to cause damage to the cars but to test the cars and crew
Which meant that most of the time it was far more exciting to watch.
