The Epic task of welding the floor to the chassis rails.

Whilst welding the floor it's noticed that the swash line is lower on the drivers side than on the passenger side.

So a new attachment is made for the jig to adjust the height.

Turning the adjuster bolts will raise the lower bar thus lifting the required drivers side panel.

The jig is absolutely brilliant - its purpose built for escorts.

It is great, could really do with one for my refurb. It could do with a new floor but without a jig not keen to go that route so will do the floors either side of the tunnel with a half floor panel from express.

More fantastic work chap. Keep the updates coming.

Test fitting the rear panel - starting to look like a real car again.

Whilst test fitting the rear panel its noticed the central support bracket for the rear panel - the one that holds the rear latch - is not central.

One of the drawbacks of pattern parts - i guess!

The rear boot latch is located on this support bracket and unfortunately there isn't enough adjustment in the boot latch fitments, so when the boot lid is closed it pulls the lid across to one side, so the support bracket will need to be removed and moved across 10mm.

Zoom in to the rear panel - the panel center line is the blue line - the spot welds for the rear panel support bracket are also highlighted.

From the inside - the support bracket should line up with boot floor pan.

This is the new pattern part

                And this is an original

I think this will get greater exposure here, so here is a blatant beg for parts!!

Thanks for replying - Express can produce them, but they are quite costly (they are hand made - in their defense!), but the big problem is the three month lead time to produce them.

Magnum have said they are going to start producing Mk1 tubs - but not for a couple of months.

My car is sitting in bits on a Jig - got about a week or so of work before I need tubs!!

I'll try Roy Nunn - would you have any contact info for him - tried googling!!

                      Thanks again

You may have noticed the odd green panel appearing - I've purchased a donor car for the many panels and parts that simply aren't available anymore.

                              Bulkhead Repair

Some work is needed around the transmission tunnel/bulkhead area.

So cuts are taken from the donor car.
