very nice work there, looks like ive got my work cut out when i start mine, what was the best way to strip all the underseal off, heatgun and scrape ?

You have made a good job of those mate, I would deffo be happy with those. I managed to buy a pair from flea bay for £30 plus p & p earlier this week and they are also spot on.
I will be happy when kermits floors look as good as those on your car

obviously they are not exact copies and i wasnt that bothered about drilling all the holes in them so they looks like factory spec just going to drill one 15mm ish hole in them so i can fire some cavity wax into them.

floor totally finished today including fitting seat boxes. I was a bit strapped for cash after buying the pinto so i had to make my own seat boxes rather than get some off escort tec. Considering the only took a couple of hours to make i was very happy with how they turned out. This pic was the best of the origionals
I managed to drill off the captive nut part from the origional seat boxes and spot weld it onto my homemade ones as seen in the next pic with the poorest of the origionals for comparrison.
And a pic of them fitted
Also spent a bit of time cleaning up the bulkhead panel i got off tonyrs2 to sort my gearbox tunnel out along with one of the donor rear tubs as they are next on the list and hopefully will get them in the shot blaster over the weekend prior to fitting.

Yeah Tony that was another of my thoughts at the time. I couldn't turn it down at £250 plus it came with it's type 9 box so hopefully it will remain good on strip down

Nice find, that engine deffo looks decent, even the fan blades dont look that used and they are a good indicator on high mileage enginesas the edge of the blades turn black and you cant get it off them.

just back in the house after my latest purchase for the escort.....
didnt really need this as my engines freshly rebuilt but its a 68k mile 205 block injection motor and it was a bargain so i had to have it.
i questioned the mileage for a moment but when i saw how clean everything was especially the exhaust manifold i decided it had to be true
even the studs that hold the heat shield to the exhaust manifold where like new and came straight off like they were fitted yesterday!

Lol and you will, between starting kermit and now i have been re-roofing my dog kennels and bought a silver harrier that also needs loads of tlc, so i have my work cut out for a while to come.

Could be a while before paint yet, might get a quick coat of etch on the bare metal sometime soon. I've been eagerly awaiting to see some more progress with kermit

had a free afternoon so got on and did a bit more, tunnel in, and floors finished off barring one tiny patch
certainly plenty to do to get the bulkhead looking somewhere near
could really do with another seat box as one of them isnt so good might try mark at escort tec this week see what he has. if get chance tommorow will get sill on as its just clamped on roughly in pics.

been busy with other commitments for the last week or 2 but managed to get a fewhours in this evening. pass side inner sill in and front floor pan in, cheated both front pans forward so there was a nice edge by the front bulkhead then piece in under the seat boxes, looks nice from underneath as all the welds are hidden pretty much, at this point i decided the shell was plenty strong enough to cut the horrible abortion of a homemade tunnel that was bodged into the car.
just when the floor was nearly free of holes this ended up the biggest yet!
chucked the standard tunnel underneath and held it into position roughly with the jack and a piece of wood hopefully if i have time tommorow il get it set up properly and welded in properly leaving me able to finish floors next week.
ive got quite a few hours of fabrication work to get the tunnel to gearbox area looking decent again but to be fair it couldnt look any worse than it was if i did it blindfolded..
hopefully another couple of weeks and il be able to attack those rear tubs and quarters
