just a small update not got that many pics tho as the phone i have doesnt have a great camera. Managed to get all the front end including bulkhead finished to a standard im happy with, i also knocked these up this morning

Put some spot welds on them to try and get a more original look on them but think il need to change the tips on the spotter as these look a bit small. Just need to find out the correct size of the digits for the chassis number now before i fit the drivers side one as i dont want to have a car with no number on the strut top.

Next i decided to finish off the inside floor area and underneath floor area. First job was to make a new top plate for the tunnel as mine had been butchered really bad, borrowed one off a friend to copy off, turned out quite well in my opinion

Just need to increase the flair on the top a touch more then trim down and fit. Once thats done i need to make a little piece up for behind the inner sill area/under back seat on drivers side then its pretty much just the bootfloor and rear panel to sort out..........there is a tiny glimmer of light at the end of the welding tunnel lol

Actually mate yes, I have taken the grille and wipers off, the headlamps and windscreen are now out, front bumper and indicators are also off, found a bit of rot under the bottom of the windscreen rubber, so some plating to do there, I will put some pics up on kermits thread tomorrow

Cheers for the comment Tony it's good for motivation! As mentioned before tho it's a bit of a viscious cycle, as my skills improve there more bits I look at and think "that could be better" so I need to find a happy medium or il be going around it forever lol. Any more done on kermit?

Little bit more done tonight, managed to get some fresh metal in the a pillar the inside panel was in tip top condition so that was a bonus just a bit more cleaning up of the welds to do

Just need to make the bottom piece up now and weld that in

Bit of an update, phone got destroyed so no pics until i got another. All of chassis complete from front to back now so thats a biggy off the list.
    Passenger side

    Drivers side

Decided to get rid of the bad bit of the bulkhead that ended up holes when i blasted it so cut it out

Then made a new piece up and welded in place, it looks a simple piece to make but took about an hour of beating on a sand bag with a wooden hammer to get it right.

Now thats done im starting back at the front again and going over anybits i missed/ arent happy with, i was maybe a bit keen when i stared and my skills have improved since then so hopefully this will be the last time i work upto the back of the car lol.
First thing to sort are the holes i missed from the old bolt on chassis mounts

Then this area around the a pillar front, not sure why i didnt repair this before i fitted the splash panel but its just a long strip metal really so shouldnt take a lot of making.

Hopefully more done towards the end of the week.

Not much of an update im affraid but a little works better than nothing. Manage to refite top hat strengthener on chassis reapair, Finished welding the front crossmember to front panel and tidied up a few more bits underneath. Only got the one pic as my iphone accidently got run over outside the house

Hoping to get the other chassis leg repaired this week then theres not much more rust to deal with just lots of bits on the front end to tidy up with the powerfile, didnt have one back then and repairs finished with the grinder look rough compared to what was done with the powerfile recently.

I have a Clarke 165 turbo which is ok and a Clarke 195 turbo which is better, just bought the 165 then my dad gave me his 195! Personally I believe the hobby range welders Clarke sip etc are all much the same but ok if set up properly. I've found that the 195 is happier with 0.6 wire and the 165 better with 0.8. My landlord has a miller 165 mig and that's 10 times the welder my 195 is but about 3 times the price! Be sure to practice plenty and make sure you have good penetration. Doesn't matter if it doesn't look to pretty aslong as it's penetrated well
