    Hi Carl
Glad the spit is doing a good job for you ,as discussed you won't break it and can safely work inside the car whilst it is in the air .
You have got a decent car there at least you have some solid inner wings to work with ,keep the pics coming and remember it will go back together one day and all the work you have put in will be worth it

Thanks guys, I'm very patient but also very pedantic. I'll keep plodding on.

Hey Mark. Thanks once again. Agricultural / Nuclear were the words banded about . Only gone to 45° because I was on my own. Need a helper to check all around the car for clearances if I'm going to push it to 90°. Next time the wife brings me a brew we'll go for it.

Not much of an update here really. I'm still scraping old underseal off to see if I find any suprises. The first picture is from before I started scraping:

and how it looks after a bit of a dig:

Since I have no money for a welder just yet I'm taking my time gently removing all the coatings. I realise it would be much quicker with a twisted brush but hey, I've got months to kill until I have welder money.
As you can see, flat surfaces are suited to my screwdriver approach, curved surfaces however are a nightmare:

Rear, underseat floor is going to need a plate or two, and the wheel-tub lip has had a bash at some point in the past:

My favourite joint on the car so far, bulkhead/chassis/inner wing:

My random approach, when I get bored I change location:

And it comes off much easier in the areas between the chassis rails:

Long job but worth it in the end, have you tried petrol or similar to soften it a bit??

Thanks guys. Petrol eh? Nope not tried that. I'm using a heat gun but sometimes that softens the black paint too. I've got some old LRP in the shed, I'll give that a go. Ta!

Hey Mark, nice of you to ask. Not "real" progress, just more scraping. More or less completed the bottom and outer surfaces of the passenger chassis. Also attacking the final, hard to reach bits of the inner wing, 85% exposed now I'd say. (just the inner wing, not the whole underside)
I sold my EOS 40D at the weekend on Fleabay so I'm only left with my old 10D. I'll dig it out and take some snaps tomorrow evening. No welding or cutting or anything interesting really, just more black paint visible rather than underseal (full of scratches through to the metal )

Thanks Pushrod, but spoon? I'd need to be re-trained, I only work with a screwdriver .

Here's the little update I promised. As already mentioned, no work being done, so to speak, just more uncovering:

Passenger side inner wing almost done, just the fiddly bits to do down the sides of the suspension towers:

                          IMG_8491 by carlf18, on Flickr
Floor and chassis looking OK I suppose:

But I've really been concentrating on the front end. This is about 4 weeks work I guess:

Tonights patch, this is why it's taking me so long, but hey, what's the rush?

Making progress there Karl. Know it looks like a lot of time for not much results but once you start cutting out and fitting new panels then it will have been all worth it and then you`ll really see progress .

Keep at it and the pics coming

Hi Carl, i did the same job on the wifes rs2000 a few years ago, i used a screwdriver too, after i got all i could off with the screwdriver i used GUNK you can get it from halfords in a tin, painted it on with a brush and then you can just wipe the panel clean, job done, no harsh fumes or chemicals to dela with and took the underseal right off, the stuff outside the chassis rails, that springy white shite that just moves around i got off with paint stripper, that was the worst part of the floor on that car too, your floor looks in good nick, just the usual metal sections to sort out but nothing too bad
