And heres the next sections to do

Going to have a trial fit of the new seats tomorrow and see how they need modified to fit and try and get the drip rail off the drivers wing and try and remove passengers wing too if possible

5 panel beaters, atleast 2 claws, probably 4 ball peen, and 3 lump hammers and 2 sledge hammersOriginally posted by dasadrew View PostBloody hell! All credit to you mate - I gave up on one that was better than that years ago!

Cracking selection of tools you've got - I've counted at least three, possibly four, different hammers so far

The works long and irritating but the main thing is, absolutly everything after the bodywork I want to do, just the bodywork I despise doing.

Again, all credit goes to the one who cant be seen, hes doing all the structural welding and prep work before paint, im just helping and doing menial tasks for now until it comes to mechanical and electrical work

And one more thing about 4 doors, its more inconspicuous, people expect a RS 2 door to be fast, no one expects a 4 door to be fast, I mean it isnt at the minute but one dayOriginally posted by Mugshot View PostThe most important tools of all.
Nothing wrong with Oyster Gold. Some of the best people have gold 4-doors!

My favourite phrase I tell people when they ask me what I want it to be like in the end "a wolf in sheeps clothing"

just another quick update, started to refurbish the aftermarket center console to accept a modern radio, dont have any pics of it before I started, but it was covered in rubbery fake leather, with a oddly shaped stereo hole and slatted front where the speaker was mounted

going to spray the grey sections black, and cover the bottom section in high density foam so that I can set things on it without them slideing around

Well still no welding done, works too busy at the garage to do any so with the Escort retreated home, i went parts hunting and came up with some nice additions:
A new door to replace my old rotten as hell one:

A brake servo tower to help stopping:

A nice sport Dash with rev counter:

 A glovebox:

And a set of seats that should suit the car and add some safety and comfort

Thats all for now folks, Im intersted to hear what people think of the seats, so please all comments on them welcome

Thanks guys, supports needed at the min, no works been done in so long its starting to get to me that no progress has been made

Seats are from a Vauxhall Astra mk4 coupe, i had a look round all sorts, focus, later escorts, fiestas, rovers, nissans, bmws, at the end it was down to these, a horrible set of rover ones or some also quite unpleasant almera ones, I thought these had the most traditional look and feel to them, only they are very very comfortable and have height adjustment, lumbar support adjustment, knee pad adjustment, so they have as much modern technology in them as you would want

Well I got fed up waiting and decided to move the car down home from the workshop and start welding myself:

I got a replacement door as my own is rotten, unfortunatly the window divider rail was rotten at the lower mounting point so i started on that first, spot welded on, grinded back and painted, turned out quite well i think

 From this:

 to this:

I then started onto the hole in the floor that was quite ugly and unpleasant, i got advice from my welder who said that I should start out small, make lots of little patches in easy shapes rather than attempting to make one big one fit. so thats exactly what I did:

 And a little more progress:

All in all, I think for my first attemp at bodywork welding I did quite well, all Ive welded before was the likes of box section etc, heavy, new metal, so this was all different to previous experiances being, thin and complex shaped and imperfect should we say.

Oh and I have to include a picture of my new anvil, cost me a whole £5

Hopefully will get pushed on and get the floor section complete tomorrow and move onto the even uglier sections

well little more progress, finished the floor, just need to replace the sill end section beside it and mig it up and the floor is done on the drivers side

then I moved on a little more and decided to make up the 1/4 bumpers while I was figuring out best way to tackle the floor
