ha, not sure what im going to do about paint, ive no money to paint her and the gold is about 40 different shades of gold, thinking about going matt black "rat look" for a few months, i would rather just go straight to fresh shiney brand new paint but money is too tight so its either matt black or gold/beige primer?

some great work going on here, have you thought about painting it yourself? it's not that hard, pick a good soild colour like yellow, red or white. I'm painting my escort ghia at the moment but here a 4door I painted datona yellow last year?

All done in my garage and turned out nice

have been thinking of painting ourselves mate, we have a few tins of Massey Ferguson red left over from our last restoration, and its real solvent based paint and not the water based stuff you can only buy now too, were not very skilled though so its hard to decide to do it or not

I bought mine thinking it wanted a bit of patching up and it ended up having a new front on it. As long as you can put it right that's the main thing....I'm sure you will manage ok. It's obvious that you know what your doing by the nice standard of work shown here, it's just time isn't it?

If you look around its not the worst escort on this site, and the word that shall not be mentioned was uttered a few times the other morning before we started fabricationg the front of the A pillar

I honestly cant take any credit for any work done mate, its all down to my brother who really has taken time and pride in this project, and wait until you see the workmanship in next batch of pics, 10 hours sunk into bottom of A pillar alone!!!

Bottom of A pillar finished, only the inner sill piece left to go in and some floor haha

That was 10 hours work for that progress, it was slow work but it looks fantastic and is solid and perfectly shaped too, the pictures honestly dont do it justice sadly though this could be the last work done until next saturday but hopefully there will be a few slow days where he can divert some attention to the 'scort

got more work done today, the drivers side front section is now completly finished, just the drivers rear section, passengers front section and drivers strut top and then the car is structurally sound again...

Back to painting, it doesn't have to be expensive to get a painter to do it.
Prep it yourself, spend loads of time getting it right, and get a painter to prime and paint it.
I just got one done by a self employed guy for less than £300 including materials . It's in 2pack and came out shining. Don't get me wrong, MY prep work was sh! te, the car looks like it's been though a mangle, but its a competition car and has seen 10 years of abuse, but it shines again!!
The same guy painted my big wing and it was over 2 grand, but he had about 2 weeks on that one. That one looked great. Its the time that costs the most. Just depends what you are wanting to achieve.

actually this was discussed tonight. an ex pro painter relative of mine seen the car in our workshop and seen the 'scort and has said that if we do the prep work and get the car 90% of the way there he will spray her over for us the good news is this is meaning the car will be sorted out paint wise very soon, the bad news is she stays gold, which is good and bad like.

Will do when works moved on a bit, im afriad its only a side project in a fairly busy garage for now so the escort has to wait until work is slack
