                        Gutted

Its been a bad two days

I was sold the carbs and manifold together as one unit, having been decribed as "MINT". Advised that they run fine and had been used recently undertaking a substantial drive.

This has proved not to be the case.

Having taken the car to a carb specialist (equipped with a rolling road) they set about installing the twin-cables. Due to not being supplied with the correct pedal clips/attachments at the time (although being told I was) they had to spend a bit of time adapting my pedal to suit, had to source the correct pedal attachment etc. Frustrating but not the end of the world.

Then it was onto the tuning and balancing of the carbs. This turned into what I can only describe as a nightmare.

To start with at least one of the seals on the manifold (rare type no longer replaceable) had gone and the manifold was sucking in more air than a hoover causing major mix issues etc. After much deliberation, the only solution was to get a new manifold. That was £132.00

The boys at Burton Power did me proud and got it to me pronto so that work on the carbs could continue.

                        Then things got worse........................

All the jets need replacing, the misabs also needed replacing and this basically meant the time spent, doubled instantly. These parts had to be sourced which bumped up the cost.

In the end, the carbs are running and they sound well, but I have been hit with a large bill and have had to shell out on parts I didnt think I needed. The total finishing bill to get all this right is susbtantial.

                        Naturally I feel very aggrieved.
                        Regards - Dave

Sorry to hear it's been a bad experience for you Dave! Once you had started, you had no choice other than to pay and pay out.
