lol , cheeky foooooookers . Having no cracks in the bores and the now straight valves will obviously help with my power level but not sure how this effects core plugs . I thought it was a shock wave down the waterways or something but it's a bit wierd to understand . I've been over to see a 10sec nitrous 2.3 pinto and he has standard core plugs in his as well .

its thermal expansion,we ran into this 25 years ago with the pinto,where you cant see anything obvious the edges will be rivited round to stop it comming out, failing that the grip fill or stick like shit works well just leave out the bits of wood.
your lucky just to be able to just chap another in and it runs,this usually needs an engine rebuild to sort

Blimey , what happened to your engines then ? Was it because all the water blew out and they cooked or was the block damaged in some way due to the expansion you mention . I'm now shitting oneself incase mine does it !!!!!!!!

Ahhhh i see , mine blew out as i pulled away sharpish so i swithched off after only a few seconds and pulled over . If the water hadn't hit the exhaust manifold and smoked out surrey then i wouldn't have known and could have killed the engine .

Cheers mate , i'm ordering some special alloy bolt in core plugs from H.T. Racing tomorrow i think just incase another one flys out . Tonight i'll be hitting the streets hard i think .

Just for anyone who's interested in the core plug situation , after several phone calls it's not required to bolt them in (allegedly) as they shouldn't come out if locktight is used and the block is clean before you fit them , so we'll see . They've had some moderate abuse as i'm now going to 7500revs and no more probs as yet .
Engines now done approx 250ish miles (no speedo ) and so far so good . No water or oil loss , no smoke , no shit in the breathers and it goes like foooooooook . I'm doing an oil change tomorrow before doing some more late night running in and then on saturday it's going on the dyno to check the fueling etc .
It should have about 200bhp at the wheels if all goes too plan , if it does then i should run 12sec 1/4's at about 110mph on Sunday even with narrow street tyres and all the bits still fitted to the car .

Progress report = Another core plug flew out the block tonight so i shall be bolting the fooookers in next time . Need to take the engine out and buy 20p worth of bolts + washers tomorrow then . So no videos this weekend unless i do some naked pole dancing .

Three cheers for Steve at Vulcan as he's made me some bolt in alloy core plugs today . I can fit these without taking the engine out and drilling the block . Top stuff .
