Yeah, I'm running a type-9 gearbox, which does fit in the standard tunnel, but its awkward to get in and out - just like any RS2000 I guess, regardless of which engine they're running.

The problem I'm going to have is raising the height of the tunnel, but keeping the heater unit. Its going to be a squeeze.

that's why i kept mine to be honest, however with the Tran X extra thick top plate and the raised breather i am going to have to "cut the lid off" and raise in an inch or so to make it fit better,

        A bit of progress...

I finished off the turrets and fitted the 4-link boxes:

Then I fitted the passenger side sill:

After that, I cut off the old drivers side sill to replace it - but found some rust in the drivers footwell:

        ...which I cut away:

So I made a repair panel:

...and then cleaned up the inner sill and got a coat of zinc primer on ready for fitting the sill:

        ...all done:

The diff tunnel I bought off ebay just doesn't fit. So, Mark is getting some metal folded at work and we're making our own. Likewise, he's going to make a new parcel shelf and firewall section to go in.

Next on the list is to get on with putting a new rear floor in, followed by the Watts linkage towers. Then we can start on the exhaust and gearbox tunnels.

I'm away next weekend, so there won't be any more progress for a couple of weeks..

                      Some more progress this weekend.

I started by repairing the passenger side footwell - the same repair that I did on the drivers side last time.

Cut all the rusty bits out. The hinge post was in a lot better condition on this side:

Here's the bit of floor section that I removed:

(...but I forgot to take any pics of the completed repair. Oh well, I'll get some next time.)

Then I set about working on the diff tunnel. Mark had gotten a new one folded up after I decided that the original one I bought was too short. I'm also fitting an exhaust tunnel, so I had to include that too.

                      Just the tunnels:

                      And then the floor sections:

Follwed by the self fabricated crossmember to finish it off. You can also see the parcel shelf/firewall that Mark made, tacked in place:

                      Underside view:

Then I got as far as fitting one of the Watts linkage towers, which was a lot more straight forward than I had feared - although this type of thing is where the roll-over jig is worth its weight in gold and certainly made this job a lot easier. The other side is going to be trickier as I have to cut out the old pahnard rod tower first, but thats a job for next time:

I'm away on holiday for the next 2 weekends, so there won't be any more progress for a couple of weeks.

                            Another update...

Finished the Watts linkage towers and the 'box' to clear the back of the diff:

                            Then refitted the tank stand:

Finished the 4-link boxes off with some strengthening plates at the front:

...and started on the gearbox tunnel:

More to come next week I hope....
