Had to return to full time employment back in aug ! Guess i started up at wrong time , well i know i did... Sorry to all customers who were waiting , there were a few more than yourself Richard.

Had Daves big wing for over a year , been finishing it off since Aug (Check posts) think next few weeks will see it completed tho.

Red MK3 is mine , purchesed off a customer when i went back to work , as i was half way through project. Will be getting sold when the market picks up. (Any takers ??)
            Regards Charlie

As I have always said I understand your position and I hope that things are working out - at least you gave it a go, many folk wouldn't (including me). If it hasn't put you off completely you can always try again as your work is stunning. There are very few people who can produce that standard.

I think you should be grateful you didn't take my car on as there was a lot more needing doing than we thought and it would have been like doing Dave's all over again! The nearside front chassis leg was totally shot through and needed replacing or reskinning, with the crossmember removed it was possible to stick a screwdriver in one side and out the other a bit like a paper bag. The offside was a bit better but not that much. Both had been heavily patched, crossmember bolts on one side were metric and on the other imperial!

Rear valance had been replaced at some time and wasn't very well done, not attached to the chassis legs. The rear legs were a bit suspect as well apparently. Probably another £500 in panels needed and a lot more in time and labour costs.

All water under the bridge as it has been sold to be rebuilt by it's new owner who seems quite happy with it.

By the way if you know anyone who needs any panels or other bits let me know, I might be able to help, otherwise I might just be having a small sale at AVO National Day. You know more or less what I had bought and you'll know the prices as well. Not all of them are available though as one or two have gone towards the new shell

                  • Bit of a thread resurrection, Charlie what happened to the pics, would love to see this rebuild.

What happened to the car in the end? Did it get finished?

                    Was there another thread?

IF anyone knows anymore please tell.
I know its an old post but I used to own XWC 182L. Bought it from a guy in Nottingham in about 1981. It was sebring red with full roll cage, harnesses and bonnet pins. It was in RHD but the four dials where the wrong side of the speedo / rev counter. It also had front opening quarter lights. I traded it in the early eighties for a MK 2 RS2000 at British and Continental Cars in Barton Upon Humber. I saw it again in the late eighties at Johnsons of Gainsborough when I attended an evening with Malcolm Wilson. THe Quarter lights where missing at this point and the then owner was not too keen to sell it back to me. Would love to see it again
