    • If you're rebuilding a 70's car then paint it in a 70's colour, Signal yellow or signal green or signal amber

Sorry, I meant what material wire - stainless, mild steel etc.

Also, the gas has to be inert (that's the idea!) I was just wondering if it was an Argon, Argon-Mix or CO.

Yeah, Argon is inert, what the Germans call Schutzgasschweißen, and your Argon's the Schutzgas. I've never used stainless at work, surely that's for welding steel with high chrome content like X2CrNi12.

                  Oh right!

I'll explain it then to all our non German speaking colleagues Schutz = Protection
ergo being protected from that naughty Sauerstoff um Oxygen

                  as ze Engländer says

                      • Yea Mig whatever I dunno! Forgot to upload the pics of the lastest work on the heater bowl. Filled in the holes that were drilled through to get the heater bowl spot welds off and then ground them flat, then wire wheeled and primered the area to stop it rusting. Also ordered a large gearbox tunnel from Peter Lloyd and it arrived today so hopefully going to see how that fits tomorrow.

Actually yes. Does using the propper stuff make for a flatter weld??

Don't know only ever used the proper stuff

As there's Co2 in "Pub Gas" that'll do the same job, but the proper mix gives a better burn, and the right temp, i.e. less splattery (Bird shit welds).
