Why do I insist on faffing around so much??? Decided to put the new Vulcan head on today. Everything came off nice and smoothly Swapped the engine mounts over to the correct way!!! (Arse of a job) Got down to stripping the cam out of the head only to find out it isn't a FR33 NOT CHUFFED. Was told it was by previous owner. Was an old style FR22 which is for a standard carb to a 38DGAS. Quick call to Kent Cams and they recommended a RL31 kit. Had to spend all my hard earned ebay money on this!! All of £250 Only to find out a bit later that Martyn Jennings (RS Boreham) has a group1 cam and followers for sale at a fraction of the price. Another call to Kent to cancell the order only to be told it has already been shipped.
At least I know it will be a brand new cam with all the gubbings.

              Road Rally 2750rpm - 7500rpm

Cant wait to see you hold it at 7500 rpm lol lol lol

I hear the most you have gone to is 4000 rpm and that was when you missed a gear change

4500 actually Still will be on standard bottom end till next year when I can do my 2.1. Dreading taking it to Wilcox as he will thrash it to death.
Question?? Do I need to run my head/cam in?? I don't think so but someone has mentioned that I need to do this. Never done so before and never heard of this.

I had an engine built a few years ago and was with the builder when he fired it up for the first time.Plenty of oil on all the cam lobes etc. as soon as it fired he took it straight upto about 3000 rpm.Shat myself thinking it was going to blow ,but he maintained its what you need to do.

Yep thats what you have to do or else you can literally wear the lobe off the cam in seconds if you let engine idle
