I was "lucky" enough to be holding the boost pipe onto the dyno when it did its' 425bhp run at Track and Road, as 38psi blew the pipe off on the first run, so Steve Greenald couldn't get a proper reading.
I was but inches away from the air filter and cam pulleys at 5500rpm.
I was standing 2 feet away from the screen when the run was taking place, and watched them rise.
The dyno operators (Steve Pitcher and Steve Greenald) know a thing or two about engines - Steve G used to build and dyno a certain Escort driving rally legends' engines (Mr R Clark). The words "Fcuking awsome" were used to describe Clints' engine.
Steve P ended the run at around 5500 rpm, the graph was flattening out at that point so he saw no reason to rev it any higher.
Sorry but 425 @ 38psi is not very high, don't know what all the shouting is for.
The extra heat that makes shows in the power and surely the standard cams just change the peak power with a T4 ?
Plus i made 60bhp more with 12psi less, so not scared cause i can turn the boost up LOL...
Don't get me wrong 425 is ok but for a t4 its not at the said boost.
So its got 425 peak at 5500, so you have approx 1500 rpm of power.(same characterists of a diesel) why is that impressive ?
If i were you i would change the cams and up the peak power to 7500 otherwise your wasting a good t4. Mine doesn't start pulling properly untill it hits 5k LOL...then you got 3000rpm left not 500.
