Your right Tim, I looked at the rac route planner and
if I went through rosslare- fishguard its 200 miles away
and Dublin- liver pool is only just over 100 , buts 250 miles to
Dublin and about 150 to rosslare, Its six of one half dozen of the other

The advantages of Dublin Liverpool overnight are imho:

        1/. Relatively short journey down M62, M6, A50, and M1 to Brunters.

2/. 2 nights kip in your own bunk bed, showers etc.

3/. Food and beer on board.

4/. Travelling through the night - asleep.

5/. Dublin traffic - you miss pretty much all of it, due to arrives up there at 8p.m. on Friday, and arriving back in again at 6a.m. Monday.

Sometimes the ferry prices are ok too.

Quite bad. Dublin Port is 2.5 hours from here and about 3 hours from there, all going well.

Thats very reasonable Dermot for time wise, the rac route planner said it was about 3 hours from liverpool to brunters. The worst part of the journey is traveling on the Irish roads ukeleft: . Any idea what we are looking for the ferry price wise?????, though I was that bad all right

Lat time took 2.5 hours including a stop at the last motorways services to fill the tank.

If the boat gets you offloaded at 6am then arriving by 8.30 am is reasonable. 70 or 75 mph nearly almost all the way. No appreciable traffic either.

2 ferry Co's, P&O Dublin Port - Liverpool, and Merchant Ferries Dublin Port - Birkenhead (just across the Mersey). I have a contact in the latter and will hopefully get a good deal.

Just off the phone to Norse Merchant ferries.

They'll do Dublin - Birkenhead, any weekend in June, night crossings both ways, for €280, including car, 2 x pax, all meals, and a twin berth room with shower/wc.

I need to book quickly however.

                      Any idea which date?
