It is illegal to restamp a shell that has been used on a previously registered vehicle. And there will be far more of them about.

But if it’s done as a single vehicle iva it will go on the engines build date emission data. So use a pinto from 1973 and it’s emmison check exempt but falls into the same VED as the old system. But if it’s a duratec the it will go by the date for that.
All the info is listed on the dvla site for iva test.
