Why not ? Don't you think your car is worth market value then ?

If your going to sell yours for 2 or 3 grand ...I'm sure it will sell really quick and the next owner will make to money off it

Glad I bought my Ur 20 years ago then, and my Mk2 rally car a couple of years ago. Still annoyed Mrs 97 persuaded me to sell the 944 Turbo about 6 years ago.

In all seriousness, when Classic car prices start to reach these sorts of levels, and house prices, in the SE particularly, reach the levels that are at now, it is usually time for another recession.

Escorts are only silly money because people pay the silly prices.

Must admit I love my focus it’s great fun and can see why some folk have sold up and got a more driver friendly car.

If I didn’t have one already I wouldn’t pay the prices they’re fetching now.

RS Models have always been high priced compared to base models, that said yes I do think the prices have gone mad. If you look at the cost price back in the day then what they are going for now they have gone up massively like 10-20 times more.

Now not all classics have gone up that much, Ferrari for example, yes they have gone up but not double there cost price, talking about run of the mill models like the 238,308,348 355 Etc. But then if you look at E-type jags they have gone the same way as the Escort prices.

I guess it is all relative.

I tell you my gripe though, this time last year I was looking for a MK2 and had a big budget, I was looking at getting a RS1800 but just could not pay the prices that were being bandied about. Looked at RS2000 /Mexico’s as I always have hankered after a real one (had lots of reps) but I like to tinker and modify my cars and paying £25K for a RS2 I could not really do anything to it as it would lose its perceived value.
I ended up with a SA 1600 sport and I could not be happier, been tinkering with it for the last year and getting back into the escort seen and re-learning loads and finding out more.

But yes I do think the prices are too high for whatever model you are looking at but if you are an enthusiast and you have the money and you are happy with you lot then knock yourself out.

Nothing wrong with a well built replica of any model ,,,the only difference is the price and the V5 ,,,equal good fun in either ,,,well thats what I think ,,
