Guess Longstone or whoever made the CN36 manufactured a fraction of that number, hence the higher price.

I disagree you cant get 175 70 13 tyres of the shelf these days, because they are not run on modern cars so less made but can get still order them for example Pirelli Cinturatos p4 for £50 per tyre, so why the steep price on cn36 properly made in the safe factory.

Because 175/70-13 tyres are only available on order doesn't mean they are made in batches of 4 each time. They make a couple of 1000 then store them at a warehouse or an importer.
Lower volume means the overhead costs are higher for each tyre (tooling, type approval).
Anyway it is good to see the CN36 are being remade, if I had an RS2 I would buy a set.

Good Price

I am used to paying way more than £127.20 per corner, I am chuffed to get hold of a set of five at that price each. I have paid silly money for other escort items of what turned out to be junk on ebay, whilst gathering bits for my resto, at least these are brand new and guranteed to be legal and fit for purpose.

I hope you don't think these tyres are expensive? they are really good value. Honestly! specialist tyres are rarely this cheap. And if you try buying tyres for something like a modern Mercedes or something like that and you will struggle to get anything good for £ 100, and they are produced in massive volumes.

For example, have a look at this bad boy https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/cat...category/8985/ this, I think, is the only other truly appropriate tyre for your cars. there isn't really anything else to compare it against.

Out of interest, Can I ask.. where are these made?
Does it have on the side.... "made in great britain" or "made in germany" ?
And who actually remade them, pirelli?

I believe this is the factory - motorsport tyres and F1 tyres are made there

Yep we have less to do with that tyre and it has N4 Porsche homologation which hasn't helped the price. that is also a very low volume tyre. What year is your 944?

It's an 88, would have left the factory on P6's by then but the earlier tyre was CN36, the press cars had them fitted.

I tracked down four new P6's in Italy and shipped them over, unfortunately they are a newer P6 so still not quite the right tread pattern.....but £47 each including shipping who can argue

Any chance of getting any 215/50/15s done? The quattro owners club are crying out for a tyre manufacturer to make some in these sizes.

OEM fit was P6 and then P600. Dunlop also used to do an SP Sport 9000 but no more.

I think that the Toyota Celica GT4 uses the same size tyre.

Grateful if you could let me know if this is possible and what the minimum order quantities, prices and lead times might be.

Hmm. that is a tricky one. It is something we have considered. However we don't get asked for them very often.

Did all the quatro's fit the same tyre?

what they call youngtime cars in Europeland is a more difficult period to contemplate what to get built because often cars had a selection of wheel options.

A while ago i bought a load of 225/50VR15 Pirelli P-Zero Assimetrico https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/cat...category/9137/ and some how managed to sell them very cheaply (they are also a Countach front) and we sold quite a few to the Quatro boys, how ever they are not so cheap now.

Currently we have a Cinturato P7 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/cat...category/9137/ which is again nearly the right size and will work while being a close to period tyre.

Interestingly i have a 1984 Pirelli book that lists the Quatro 2.2 Coupe (from 1981) as fitting a 215/50VR15 P7R. & in fact in my 1990 book it still lists P7 (or P700)and by this point both the P6 and P600 were available.

So moving forward, it is a possibility we could get them made, we just have to be sure there are enough cars out there that want them. do you know how many of these cars are still around?

Also can we confirm for defo what tread pattern we want? I can maybe ask Pirelli what they know, to make sure we do the job right.

Also bare in mind they won't be anywhere near as cheap as these Escort ones. these are a steel!
