I genuinely think for our generation it has very little to offer anymore, the cars and people we want to see don't frequent its shows or generally its website/FB page.

I am tempted to say I don't care what happens to it and I fully understand I have no say at all as its had no money off me since 2008, what I will say though is it saddens me to see what was a big part of my life for 20 years become what it has today.

I no longer know any of the 'top table' , probably only Oggie and Pops from the registrars, Paul RS500 to say hello to, sometimes

I think several get heated about the RSOC, it's pointless, life is about bigger things.

So you own the holy grail of rallying Escort, the 1981 WRC winning car, but you cannot become a full member ... strange.
But to be fair, the rules been like that for over 30 years.

Its saddens me to read all this about a club that in its hay day was the ford club to be in, to be fair the old skool has been left out time and time again within the RSOC. I'm sure if the RSOC club had contacted all there so called old skool registrars myself included we would have filled a large part of the RSOC National Day Show.
As RS Mk2 Mexico registrar or so called official, I have not been contacted by the club or contacted to do any valuations or to be involved in any part of it this year, but have been asked by members of Mexico's if I was holding a registrars stand this year to which I have had to say no sorry not this year but you can park your car inside National day for £5.00 which you will get back on the gate in the form of a voucher to spend in regalia.
Which leaves me wondering what response I would have had if I had asked for a Lakes Tour stand at National Day? I hopefully would have raised 50 cars possibly more.
My membership of the rsoc ran out in may just after the Lakes tour I was bombarded with emails texts ect as to why I had not paid my subs I did renew but I must admit I thought long and hard before I did as my interests are now going other ways, its just not the club it used to be a lot of good people that used to be in the club have turned there back on it moved on been banned or whatever. I have been a registrar for a good few years now and do wonder why at times, as I would like to do more for the cars and the owners but at times I feel my hands are tied.

Like I have said before you get out of something what you put "in'' and sometimes your just cannot put into it what you would like too.

Why has it changed so much over the years?

Its supposed to be a club for all rs cars and people who like them.

Dave I've seen it slowly turn into what it appears to be now and I honestly feel that there's a good percentage of people on the committee that aren't what I refer to as car people.

I've had many disagreements with Paul (linfoot) in the past and may do again in the future (because he is a kont ) but he's a passionate car person through and through, mickey has posted on here and is a car person, there are others too but there's also too many wanting control, wanting the business side to come first and be as corporate as they can possibly be. The result I feel is a loss of direction and the target audience if you like has been lost. Old school owners are all on here, mk3 escort owners are all on seriesoneturbo, Clayton has took all the mk1 focus owners to his club, all the escort Cosworth owners are on escort Cosworth.com... the club has lost most of those members and instead of trying to bring them back and be inclusive of all RS marques they've decided to be exclusive and put barriers up. People have just moved on to where they're served best.
the club has lost its pedigree and the prestige it once had, I'm saying this as a secretary of a local group and it's honestly getting more and more difficult to keep the interest in the club going.
It doesn't help that when members raise issues and concerns they are taken as shit stirring and trouble making so those opinions are just dismissed as being wrong, then deleted off the site and eventually the member gets banned.

National day is now being eclipsed by bigger regional day shows and the lack of a national coordinator has taken its toll. Again the subject has been raised and dismissed, the Melbourne loop for local groups has been done to death and they still don't get what they want.
It's supposed to be a members club, ND is supposed to be a day for the members to celebrate their cars and it's simply not that anymore.

Iirc it cos approx 47k to put that show on last year of which about half was the cost of the venue and the rest made up of on costs, hospitality and hotel rooms.

With the track not being sold out and only four traders booked in and low numbers generally from local groups I really do hope the show at least pays for itself

Kev I have no doubt my opinion will be dismissed out of hand as I know fuk all.
I am a shop floor, grass roots member, I'm signed up til 2021 and will stay pay my membership and go to shows.
I struggle to get much interest from our group for ND but had 14 cars on a stand at Ford fair, members that travelled from the north east and put in £150 in fuel and £80 for a hotel and £25 entry and took holidays from work on the Monday.. Yet there's no interest in going to a members show that's closer to home and we can be there and back in the same day
I've had to book myself and our treasurer onto anniversary stands rather than put two cars on a LG stand.

Something seriously need to change somewhere near the top and it needs to be open and honest instead of stubborn and arrogant, being fully inclusive instead of exclusive but I really can't see it happening, it's as sad as hell but they will reap what they sow unfortunately.

47k to put a show on that hasn't sold the track out and poor sales generally puts an awful lot of pressure on membership renewals to make up any shortfall.

A real shame to hear how the club has gone.

The forum side of things comes from the rsoc forum being run badly, being down ect.. i believe, then the likes of passionford and single marque forums being formed, we were all on the rsoc forum at some point though now sadly we use different forums and the rsoc forum is very quiet, a bit like the club now.

I know a few people high up and they are very passionate about what they do and can only applaude them for what they do however something needs to be sorted out to try and get everyone back supporting the rsoc and the rsoc needs to support us owners too.

                        Dave.
