Correct me if I am wrong but this is my thought

The idea of any car show is to provide a display of cars for the general public to come and view and as such why do a lot of shows seem it is required for the owners of said show cars need to pay a fee for the privelege of doing so ?

Yes any show costs money to organize and put on but these costs are covered by the public entry fee and the fees charged to traders who pedal their wares at a show

End of the day if people did not be willing to bring their cars then no show could take place.

As of late the clubs original mission statement "rules" have become blurred.

The club was set up to cater for UK registered road versions of the RS marque - in the world of MKII Escorts that basically meant approx 10 BBAT RS1800's and all the GCAT chassis numbered RS1800's, Mexico's and RS2000's

Lately kit cars with all weird and wonderful chassis numbers (not just Escorts) have been given pride of place on club stands.

So John if the Group 4 "Escort RS" has a GCAT chassis number and a V888 information check shows it was originally a "Main Dealer" factory RS supplied vehicle that was then converted for race or rally use then I see no problem in it being recognised by The RSOC

Vehicles that have a JCXXXXXX or SDXXXXXX ICBAXXXXX (or similar) style chassis number are basically Kit Cars and as such were never recognised as a "road registered" RS model.

So basically if you own an RS and not in a local group, you're not welcome to RS shows. There's usually five of us with Mk2's that go to lakes and classic car shows, we went to Notts show which was a good, but only because Chez posted on here to bring all mk1 an 2's

A shame this hasn't happened for many reasons me thinks.
The RSOC needs to consider every aspect of a show, the RS brand has changed from a working mans sports car to one which you need a great deal of money in the bank or a small mortgage to own one.
Shoot me if u wish but one of the reasons Registrar stands started to fail as soon when registrars were allowed to show their cars in concours, they were concentrating on their own vehicles instead of being with members on each respective stand.
The club direction is obviously going the wrong way and more people within the committee needs to recognise this.
The club may have a more professional approach to how they do business but since I would say 2013/14 it has gone down in people's estimation and at number of very good people have become casualties as a result.
A good show needs cars and people to attend look at ford fair a couple of weeks ago. This is how national day once was and needs to be again for the club to survive or even put on a show at donington.
I hope national day is a great success not for the committee but for the members who pay the annual fee and the people who pay to go and see what was once the show to see the greatest number of RS cars in one place.
I have probably missed something out and may have upset people but this is all in my own opinion of course?
I love my RS but feel the RSOC isn't the place to take my car and to me that is not what I would have been thinking at all.

Last year at donnington was a joke regarding the display of cars, look how few cars were in the main arena, concours only every one else were displaced all on the outer areas, 2015 was better setup

Registrars stands never started to Fail

they were stopped at the request of a lot of local groups because there members were all going on registrars stands and local group numbers were very pour at events .
Plus it was hard to make sence of any anniversary displays as every stand looked like one as all there was to see was a line of the same cars .

The idea was to get people back supporting there local groups .

And how many registrars show in concourse ? a lot less than years ago

Most registrars are asked or offered the role due to there high level of knowlage for that make of car , and oftern being a concourse entrant is what helps people gain the knowlage , so to then expect them not to do concourse once they become a registrar isnt really fair , plus i have never heard anyone say its an isue that there registrar does concourse .
