Far from it . I think they are a great way of being able to buils a solid car with your own personal mark on it
Have you purchased one ?
Obviously I havent hence the effort to find as much information as posible and hopefully recieve advice and opinions of the more knowlegable members
Have you seen one close up ?
No and I am not sure how many people have, I understand there will be one on show at a classic restoration show comming soon and will be going to have a good look at one
Let me guess the answers are NO
How do you think the guy who took the time and more importantly the money is going to feel and why should anyone else ever decide to try to remake anything
Maybe you should arrange a visit to N.Ireland to go and see the guy who has sorted out these shells, panels etc and discuss what your worries are regarding their use
Here are his contact details - http://higginscarbreakers.co.uk/
Dont really understand the above comments and how you get the idea I am against these shells
As for any future owners passing them off as "genuine" then Caveat Emptor is rather a good saying to bear in mind
Think its a fact in the Escort world the some people and some cars are not what they seem
NOTE:- any other users of this forum who think that "idiots" cannot buy any car of their choice then please play nicely or the Big Button gets pressedsigpic

Spare a thought for those who decide to put their hand in their own pocket and try to remake any component let alone the massive commitment to actually go out and get a shell remade
What encouragement can you give Alan to these people instead of creating such negativity surrounding their efforts ?
Maybe others will be more willing to have a go at getting something remade if they were given some positive reason to do so

Can you please show me one post which is being negative to the shells

I have great respect for the guys who make the effort so again point me to the posts I have made being negative

I have never been negative ??? the more opinions and information people can get will provide more encouragement to buy a shell
Maybe others will be more willing to have a go at getting something remade if they were given some positive reason to do so
I really do not know where you are getting the idea I am against the shells , IF you can find one please advise so I can see where you think I am being negative.sigpic

I must be missing something, I enjoy my escort, like someone said earlier because they were a working mans car and as a youngster was surrounded by them, loved them and they remind me of times gone by and wishing I could have one, also wanted a lambo, Ferrari and Porsche but alas couldn't afford one but could still dream.
What we need to remember is that Ford like most manufacturers of that era were poor quality and rusted in front of your eyes, think people forget that but we still liked them. We used to patch up five year old cars.
My point is let's not critisise anyone as each to their own and a forum is somewhere to read, share and help each other as not all of us live and die by social media like today's era that is if my son has anything to go by.
I think what Higgins have done is a great investment and will keep old escorts alive for many years to come and can't see what the fuss is as a lot of escorts have had replacement floor pans and other repair panels that's aren't the best but you get what you pay for hence I always use Xpressed steel panels but alas they aren't the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
Most escort owners, if not all have them because they like them and they can modify them anyway they want, keep them concourse which I am glad people do but alas that's not for me as I just want to take all the good bits, the looks and modernise it but that's not everybodies taste but it's my car and I can do what I want with it without and criticism so please let's all just get along as we need to keep the forum alive
Just for the record, run a Saab 9-3 Viggen, Toyota Mr2 Mk2, rs2000 currently in the garage getting built the way I want and had a Porsche 994 turbo which I also liked and never have a go at anyone's cars as said, we are all different
Calm down, drink, smoke, relax and drive what you want, just don't fall out as we only live one life and want to keep the forums alive

Maybe, just maybe, some people read what they want to read instead of the neutral poll you started.

Dave ,, The question is very simple ,would you or would you not use the shells to repair or restore your own car.
How much effort that has gone into the production of the shell is not of relevance to the question.
As said please show a post that suggests any of my comments are being negative.sigpic

Why have you only made 2 options ?
1. basically says will you ADMIT to using one
2. Not go near one with a barge pole
Yes right there are the beginnings of your negativity towards the shells
Your very carefully worded options are both negative
To run a fair and balanced poll there are usually a +ve option a -ve option and maybe even a neutral option but no you had to load both options to lean towards a negative feeling towards the shells
When you buy one then please furnish us all on here with your own personal findings as I and many others would prefer a true, honest assessment of their quality
