  • having my shell "dipped"

Been in touch with these people today http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/ enquiring about having the shell dipped .

Cost is around £600 which included the shell , doors, bonnet, and boot which i thought was quite good as it costs around this much to have it blasted which can cause distortion in the shell

So i have no need to strip the underseal off now as all that will be done, it also removes rust and sealer too .

if you want it putting in a cat of primer that is around £200 , this will slow down the rusting process before it goes for paint .

has anyone had this done before ?

They do alot of work for prodrive and have stripped cars from astons to maseratis

If you do have it done I suggest the primer option

            Bare metal oxidises rapidly !

and where's the fun in THAT then? Are you some pen-pushing blotter-jotter? Get thee sleeves rolled up and get wire-brushing!

Reasons i have been told is that it lightens the shell to much , as this is what some of the BTCC cars were having done to lighten them

was advised unless im having the shell seam welded not to have it done as it makes em weak

Gaz - I have just read the "other" BB postings

I had my loose panels dipped to remove paint/sealer etc

The type of acid used for stripping should not be that corrosive to metal !

Ask the people who have quoted you on the shell

Be aware though any body filler on your shell will disappear as well

vinny was deffo told absolutly no distortion at all

                          Dave
that is on reason i want it doing to get rid of anything "rus or rot or filler " on the car so i can see what im up against with the shell
