  • ar$biskits !

had a Fantastic tour with the rest of the Essex/Kent team this year and really enjoyed myself and my car done the 800 mile weekend without the slightest hesitation

so had already booked the day off to recoup, pack the stuff away and get all the kak off the car and give it a bufty, so car up in the air on axle stands to get the wheels off and it the rear axle stand slips gives way and the car falls off the stands backwards crushing the rear axle stands

was just getting the jack out at the time and the car came down on sump first

after initial expletives and survey of the scene the sump has taken the brunt of it and is bent up, and touching the crank but not cracked

so change of plans, polish put on hold and ...................

could have been a lot worse, I was under the car about 30 seconds before it slipped
    Cheers Glyn

Lucky escape Glyn. That car seems to like doing that, it rolled back on me once jacking it up and the sump got cracked.

are the wheels moving freely on your jack if it cant roll under load the car moves with arc of jack lift arm. This can move stands off the square onto two feet and become unstable. Good job you were clear of car

Thats exactly what happened my trolley jack didnt move and it all fell backwards off of it

The axle stands are cheapo ones I have had for 25 years or so, could be time for some new ones !

interesting it tried to kill you too Geoff, I may start calling it Christine !

well got it all back together and took it for a drive and it's pi$$ing out of the rear of the oilpan out of view so looks like I knocked the half moon off the rear oil seal when I put the pan back (you cant see or check when the pan goes up)

I have left it in the corner of the garage in the naughty corner while I think of absolutely anything else to do rather then take it all apart again
                        Cheers Glyn
