    Glyn,

Firstly glad to hear you're okay ! I had the stuck wheel problem and car slipping off the jack once lucky it still had the wheels on the car and did not do any damage. The jack went straight in the scrap bin at the tip the next day.

I have not been to Costco for a while so this may be a waste of time typing it...

If you are after a Jack I dunno if Costco still have them but the Arcan 3T steel jacks are a brilliant bit of kit. They are low entry and are quick lift I got 2 for a mate who is a mechanic and uses them day in day out for about 4 years and are still perfect, they cost about £90 but well worth it. The only thing is they are quite heavy, but mine stays on the floor anyway so its not really a problem.

Looking online they do the Arcan alloy one but thats rated at 1.5T and showing the 3T steel being made by SIP it does not look as sturdy as the Arcan jack either....

I also use Halfords Pro, 3T ratchet type axle stands they seem good as you can put them under the car and adjust them quickly without having to climb underneath. The only down side is they need the car to be raised a bit higher to get the ratchet to 'click' into place and then lower the car down.

I have always put the wheel under the car that I've taken off, my theory is if the car falls off the jack or stand it may damage or destroy the wheel but it'll more than likely save your life
