What about a satin black bonnet, or Alan Man livery ?

I like the idea of copper bronze too or another period metallic would be cool from the AVO range of colours. Sadly I can see people at shows saying they were never that colour from new in a smug voice, if you can live with that or happy adding a few teeth marks on the wing/bonnet area go for it !

Sebring is one of my favourite colours so that is definitely in the running, it's up there with the copper bronze.

Does anyone think that a modern colour would be better??

I've seen people use some of the modern colours from things like the Mini or Fiat 500, but they're just modern tasks on original colours from what I've seen. Silver's always pretty rare on a Mk1....

All the Australian Twin Cams were painted different colours I think its a breath of fresh air to not keep seeing white ones..

But there again I love Ermine white TC...

Heres a pic of mine...Its called True blue very similar to Monza blue

Easy enough to replicate I would think.

What would the duo tone blue on the 1800 look like on a mk 1??
These type of stripes were available from any accessory shop many years ago, they were favourites on old Mk2 cortinas, minxes, vivas, anglias, and some Mk1 escorts. They could look alright if you want to be different, and maybe a satin black bonnet would look ok too.

Personally I would keep it original and stick to ermine white, and please, please, please don't go for a modern colour, as it's the worst thing that you can do, it will just look cheap and obviously resprayed! It's your car though and you can do what you want with it, but it would be an expensive mistake if you found out later that you had made the wrong decision!

Tim, conveniently missing out the 'type' bit, but why did Minxes and Vivas have Ford stripes Take it was like the zebra stripes of the early '90's

Good idea, a bit like that Focus (RS500 ?) but that went too far and had the whole car wrapped. Or paint in Ermine White and wrap the whole car in Copper Bronze vinyl ?

While we're on vinyl rapping what about some sort of Lotus ' John Player Gold leaf' livery e.g. red top, gold band and Ermine white under the swage line ? Something I've never seen and what could have been maybe?

Nooooooo, the stripes were supplied without any make on them, so you could fit them on anything, and so that's just what they did! They looked similar to the ones fitted on the old twin cam pic, but of course without the Ford on them! Yes you are right, they were just like the craze with the zebra stripes of the 90's.
