To be fair that's been the "excuse" for a long time now. Look what happened to the golden generation...

If there's one thing the Germans always rely on (take the pi§§ about) it's England's dire penalty taking, for example. That's basic technique, if you can't get that right, how are you going to win owt??? And they still can't take a decent penalty. The German national team has qualified for every major tournament and has literally only ever missed 3 penalties EVER. It is true that fewer "English" players are getting their chance (as EPL managers dare not risk sending a greenhorn out onto the pitch) but England has always underperformed with the talent it has had at its disposal...
