I couldn't cry over the car, just over my lucky escape.
I now know that sticky tyres, a sunroof and a harness with a lever type release don't go together.
Look closely (it may help to invert the photo) and you will see I am well out of my seat, as the harness came undone when I accidentally hit the release lever during the spin.
Yes they are. The offside front gripped as the front of the car span round and it just went straight over. Had I left the 15 year old P6's on it the spin would have been just that and not a roll.
Soft or Mediums?
I've got A048s in Medium compound, and they slide quite well, nice and progressive in the dry, the wets a different story though!!!!!!!!!
glad to hear ur alrite rob.... id say u were still shaking driving home after that, looking at a wrecked car in tow behind. did the sunroof open or what happened to it?? how long did it take u to restore that car??
gutted for ya dude........... had you really JUST finnished working on it??
It had received it's first MOT since 1993 only 8 days before.
I bought the car as an unfinished project in 1999, and had very slowly been restoring it. It was fitted with new genuine doors, front wings and a new pair of door mirrors, all of which didn't make it out alive - to be honest I'm more gutted about ruining the new panels than the rest of the car - they cost more than I paid for the car 6 years ago
It needed a full paint, as I had done it a panel at a time, mostly outside, so although the paint was very shiney, it didn't all match perfectly, the inside of the boot needed to be painted, and I was going to strip the underseal off and paint the floor.
Nearly all of the running gear is perfect, so it's going to get used again in another project at a later date, for the time being the car will stay in one piece, I need to have the front stub axles crack tested, and check the axle casing for straightness, the o/s/f wheel needs a very light refurb, and the front tyres chucking in the bin !!
