it is a very nice car to start of with that probably only cost a fraction of the cost to buy the same condition RS car so even if you do spend a good amount on it, there will still be good money in it if you do sell it.

the price of decent/genuine rs cars out there are getting a bit too high so why not do the replica car.

    Dave.

Don't worry about it, buying pop models and sticking RS parts on them has been done for millenia. Many have then bought a V5 and claimed its an "RS" nothing unusual in it.

Do it for sure . Rs1800 logos and badges but with a decent engine as BDA is toilet for the money . Atmo YB power rules the streets so that's how it should be done .
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

You just build the car you want, with the colour you want, and the badges you want, with the engine you want
It's your car do it your way and if anyone doesn't like it smack them over the head with a shovel

To be honest, I expected the opinions to be the exact oppersite to what most have said

I guess if I don't do it I will always regret not doing it, so will stick with the original plan

I realise for what this is going to cost me I could go out and buy a nice RS2. but I have had plenty of those in the past in std form, X-packed & modified. My plan with the replica would be to get the exterior and interior as it should be, but with modern running gear so I can actually use it

I think my doubts come from seeing that RS1800 that was stolen recently put me off, but im sure it will be a target to thieves regardless

Don't worry I will take plenty of pics along the way and start a build thread. Im still collecting parts at the mo, as I like to get most of the parts in place before I rip into the vehicle so it doesn't become a long term project in the workshop.

Hopefully I will be able to start it in December, once I have the remaining parts and get another project finished and off of the rotisserie

            Cheers

Take a look at neil Arnold's (deepest blues) car, it should be on here somewhere, for inspiration to do the job mate, truly stunning..

I'd you don't build what you want you'll only sell it or never use it

Spot on, thats effectively what Ford did. Just different mass produced parts bolted together....I say go for it!
