There's a lot mentioned on this thread about why people DON'T take their cars out to shows. However, there is not much mentioned about what STILL happens and goes on.

As Dave Custom said.....57 cars attending the race day and winning best show stand.

65 cars attended the Oulton Park Gold cup last year - again taking the best club stand beating 89 other clubs. It was a fantastic day and great to see concourse cars there being driven !

Also, the other days out....Midlanders come to Wales in May for a spin. Nearly 50 cars out together for the day driving. Superb.

And the Snowdonia Tour and the Lakes are major contributors and always well attended.

So...yes some people cannot be bothered to drive their cars ....but some people can (and can't get enough) so those who decide not to participate really are missing out. Life's too short to grumble and complain. Get out there and enjoy the scene as it is. Life moves on every year so hoping for the olden days is good, but they will never come back. Move on and enjoy before it's too late !

Mk1 fan till death do us fart! I had to wait for 20 years to afford an RS again and will be buried in mine.

Houses, childen and Women have had their share of my time ands it;s now time to be a 50 year old teenager again, if you get my drift.

What ever you do with your cars, polish drive, tinker, who cares, just enjoy them.

I sold my last Mk2 Mexico in the 90's and it's took me till 2011 to retreive my identity as a true Ford nut.

Keep the fires burning, far more fun than this modern junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do like to visit this forum and go to the odd show, even chat to likeminded people, but ive loved the humble mk1and mk2 escort since I was a child and my grandad bought a new 1300xl and used to continually remind me how special it was , because it had a black cloth interior and black back panel.
