I think the 911 market is different to the RS market in that there has always been a very good supply of cars, a large percentage of those made have survived, another couple of hundred coming to the market in cribs and drabs will have no real effect, in fact after full restorations some of those will be expensive cars and may raise the prices.

I don't profess to know anything about 911's, I've never been in a position to afford one and have always preferred the look and simplicity of the 944.

I think that the 911's are such a tangled web of years, models, engines, body styles, colours etc that there will be those that are sought by the collectors and those that are far less desirable even though they are still a 911

The biggest factor on early 911 prices currently is the fact that the later cars, Boxsters, N/A 996's and 997's have engine internals with questionable build quality, therefore people are investing again in the earlier air cooled cars.

Those of us who can't afford a 911, or don't want one, are buying 944's and again prices of good examples are sneaking upwards, maybe not at the rate the RS's did a few years ago but bought right they are a safe bet.

Check out the 944 stand at next years Lakes Tour ....

Very true it's a nostalgia thing. A bit like looking at 350LC's and wanting another one but realising that I am 3-4 stones heavier and they don't handle like modern bikes or have the same sort of power

These are the first of a 200 strong collection getting auctioned off, what would happen to escort prices if a similar amount of cars flooded the market?
