Was assuming fuel consumption figures wouldn't be pretty and £70 every 200 miles certainly isn't pretty!

Would only be a toy and all toys are exempt from running cost analysis

Great man maths, all toys should indeed be exempt.

The 270 also fell into the wonderful higher tax bracket so £400+ a year to tax. Only the last one's fall into this so you should be ok.

Has to be said that buying a Subaru is a dangerous thing to do, they get under your skin. I still find myself justifying another in my head. Man maths are easy in your head, not so easy to explain to the misses

Quote: 'buying a Subaru is a dangerous thing to do'. I fully agree. In my mind i'm hoping to get a good one and keep it long term. It should last me 'forever' if it's looked after as it probably won't do more than a couple of thousand miles a year.

Quote: 'explain to the misses'. Another very true hurdle to overcome. I find the best solution (from experience) is to buy something, hide or store it somewhere other than the family residence until such time as it's 'safe' to confess, or the misses wants something at which point you have leverage!
Although to be truthful i still have 2 'confessions' to make before we get to the Subaru! I'll just go and make sure my wills up todate!

Mine used to do 240 miles to a tankfull (£70) but after i had it remapped it went up to 265 per tank. Race Dynamics remapped it, the guy Duncan said the stock map is really rich and has a poor ign curve to cope with 91ron fuel in european counties, if i ran mine on Vpower all the time he could have run a bit more ign and boost and id have had 270bhp but as its a hack i wasnt interested in going down that route.

            I've owned 2 Legacy's and 4 Impreza's so I guess I find Subaru's rather addictive !

My first Impreza was a JDM car and along with my current one which is also a JDM car, I reckon that they are the ones to get if possible as they offer certain advantages over UK/Euro cars, eg the later cars have 2 L engine with twinscroll instead of the unreliable 2.5 L engine fitted to the later UK cars.

Current car is a JDM S-GT and yes, I slated the hatch when it first came out but as is often the case it's grown on me

Sounds like you weren't trying hard enough Lee

I also was looking into a remap to improve things but ended up selling.

I remember the onboard computer on my old E30 M3 reading single figure MPG around Goodwood!
