It's all about re-sale value at the end of the day . Focus Rs will be worth more than golf GTI when you sell it on but both will cost thousands in depreciation and that's waste of money (unless you're rich of course) . A bit like waking up every morning and chucking a 50 note out the window !!! Would you do that ? .................... errr no , lol .
Focus rs mk1 would be better bet as already cheap or nice tidy Saff Cossie . Even those gay st Focus things would be alright if you just wanted a newish daily smoker with a Dagenham dustbin badge on the back .
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

I have done lots of research and the word in the trade is that they are about to take a big tumble value wise because of the arrival of the new model in 2014.
The price guides have been devaluing them mercilessly in recent months yet they are still hanging around at the prices asked unless they are in the optimum spec and colour.I really do want one but I certainly won't over pay.

Thats a fair comment but the mk1 is not very exciting with 200 ish hp and I don't believe in modding modern motors.

I've got to admit, the focus has more curb appeal and if you are going to use it for a play thing and weekends then yes. I can see where your coming from.

I found the build quality sadly lacking for the price of the car, ride a little too firm for todays roads and although it looks special, the performance was not as special as it looks. I am in my 40's too and have left the pimped look behind now too!!

It may have been my use for it, but the golf did most things better and felt it build wise too. Trouble is, there's millions of Golf GTI's!!

If it was a figure of money and something for the weekend that had to be ford, I'd be looking at a nice 3 door cossie.

Hey, but what do I know and saying that, I've just bought a series 2 landrover!! ....crap handling, poor fuel consumption and as for build quality, well there is no trim to fall off.

E46 M3 is cheap now as well and won't go down in price much so a safe bet . They are a good drive but sound shite (wasp in a bake bean tin) but an induction kit and decent exhaust might help this . Worth a test drive for sure and you might prefer one to a focus .

I know what you mean but 300bhp Volvo/mk2 Focus Rs is slow as fooook as weighes 1600+ kilos !!! mk1 will keep up on the roads i reckon as it's alot lighter plus it looks better as it's not as "crashed onto Halfords" looking , lol .
Had a peak on Pistonheads just now and Focus rs mk1 prices are rock solid for an old motor so you can't lose much money owning one for a few years . Some real nice ones on there as well .
Mk2 would cost you 10 grand plus over a few years i reckon and mk1 would cost next too nothing . Depends how rich you are but i can't stand wasting money on depreciation , i'd rather buy an old one and then spend £2500 on it making it 300bhp .

Get this one . Looks nice and has decent mods and good number plate . Save yourself 10 grand and spend that on the mk2 Escort instead of chucking it out the window .

My mate adam has one, one of many toys so dont get used much. Its got the mountune engine upgrade and exhaust, and mountune suspension. 380 bhp sounds great on a five pot lol

                    Go for it ade!

                      the advantage of being old!!

My wife has an Audi Q5 which is insured with Aviva. We have just made a call to enquire about a multi car policy to add a mk2 Focus Rs.Its just 230 quid to add the Focus with unlimited mileage, unbelieveable really.
I have in principle done a deal with PPM sales for the white focus that is shown in my wanted thread. We are hopefully going to see it on tuesday.

I notice that if you have lux pack 2 with sat nav then the DAB is deleted.I personally would rather have DAB than sat nav!
