Hi, I have an agreed valuation on my RS with my insurance company but have seen a couple of threads on here re agreed values.
Am I right in saying they are almost worthless unless the valuation is done by the RSOC? I am not an RSOC member at the moment but if the above is correct then looks like I will have to join.
My next question, I believe the valuation can only be done by the registrar. The Mk2 RS2000 registrar is, I think Martin who lives 250 miles from me. I don't get to any shows up north so is there a southern registrar who could do a valuation?
Are there any other ways to get a valuation that is acceptable to insurance companies so I don't get a nasty shock if the worst ever happened? Any advise would be gladly received.
    Thanks
    Phil.

I am a member of the RSOC and had my valuation done by Oggie who is a top bloke.I must say that other than the valuation for insurance i consider my membership not money well spent. The forum caters mostly for the new stuff and the politics and fallouts within that club are truly staggering..Its really been an eye opener. The best blokes are on here and lets face it this is the real club nowadays.

I think you'll find that Martin does a number of shows around the country.

Phil, if you decide to join the RSOC, and get a recognised valuation through them, any club registrar can look at your car, and liase with the RS2000 registrar to finalise a valuation, A HPI check will also have to be carried out

          Hi, thanks for your reply.
Not really interested in the politics of the club just want to safeguard my investment. If the worst ever happened and my club membership fee meant I got the full value of my RS back then I think that is money well spent.

Absolutely, thats the point i am making Phil. The valuations are highly regarded but the club offers little more to the owners of the older models.

            Cheers

Totally agree Adrian, the magazine us usually modern stuff and the forum is useless for the proper Fords.

if you think the mag is full of new stuff then do something about it....send something in about older cars.

it can only put in what people send in so we have ourselves to blame if we don't contribute.

If you have an agreed value with your insurer(i have a similar policy)you send pics of car to insurer!if they disagree with your estimate they should not accept policy payment!.If you have a club valuation all the better.

You get out of a club what you are prepared to put in. So, I disagree with your comment.
As said, the magazine always needs articles so why don't you do one on your car?

Speak to your insurance and ask them who they recognise for Classic Valuations and do they pay out the full agreed value on a total loss or theft !

Insurance premiums are based on many factors one of which is vehicle value

So many stories of insurance companies trying to NOT pay out the "agreed value" so to have a RECOGNISED valuation in place is paramount.

Regardless of whether any of us like the politics of ANY club it is worth being an RSOC member solely to obtain a valuation and also if you are a member and the worse should happen at least The RSOC may mediate on your behalf if you are insured with The RSOC approved insurer if not insured with their approved company then at least the valuation will stand up to scrutiny

Because magazines are slow moving and any news is old hat by the time it is published, which takes me back to the forum which is only centred on new cars.Any posts about the older cars gets little or no response. This is no offence to members who enjoy the club and contribute in a positive way just my own personal thoughts.
