Watched it on the train home. Entertaining, but a bit of bollox really. Those figures are dream-land! And did you see the shonky fit of that Chinese wing? The panel-gap with the bonnet wandered all over the place!
****ed myself at the spot lights he bought and the one-piece front bumper with over-riders!
Interesting bit was the state of the underneath when he was refitting the bumper irons - nice and shiny bodywork, but didn't seem to have done a thing with the underneath. Anyone know if they pulled the engine and painted the bay too?
And did that lad really give 11,800 for it, or was that a setup?

think the program only to make them look good.
a have no time for the guy that buys theses car s to do up.
u never see him get his hands dirty.!!
maybe the guy that fixing them could be good but dont show u everything .when there restoreing theses cars or others.
its al just to make it real on tv and get folk to watch it .

As some have said on this thread so far that it's only the "purists" etc...
To be honest, the show is OK as such, but I have always found the "facts" about a certain vehicle slightly dodgy and the way the cars are bodged up to flog on is straight out of the "Second-Hand Car Dealer" manual.
Wallop a bit filler in and whack some paint on and everything will be fine, it actually reminds me of the lower end of the motor trade, i.e. whatever the customer can't see is alright .
Just like the track rod ends and the tca bushes and washers looked wazzed, it's like the programme where they did a mini and wasted time, money and effort painting the rocker cover but (no doubt) left mechanical faults untouched.
Also quite laughable was (probably for filmimg's sake) fitting the struts and servo tower, only then to have to remove/mask out all the "new bits", totally illogical. Leave the old struts on and smack the overspray on them, then chuck 'em in the bin, but no not this lot...

Jeez - some of you lot are a tough crowd! The give away is in the title - 'Wheeler Dealers' It is not meant to be a Haynes manual of a programme.
I wish they'd never done an Escort because to do it correctly to most of your standards, it would run over 12 shows and that would just about address the tin work. If you want to see it done right watch Wayne Carrini's 'Chasing Classic Cars' - oh and his budgets runs into Millions of $$$ - see the difference? Lighten up and treat it as light entertainment.

As said, this is reminiscent of car sales at the bottom end of the market, a right Arthur Daley character, i.e. stuff a bry-nylon shirt into the gearbox etc...
