Obviously the odd one was kept out the weather back then and has survived today as one bit but not many . Even in 1986 when i was after a nice mk2 rs2000 for a daily runner it was hard and a "V" reg was only 6 years old !!!!
They rusted like foooook and were just cheap runabouts for joe public back then . Even the cleanest "V" reg i found back then still had too have new wing rails and even had the top plates off as they had started too lift . Scary stuff on a £3500 6 year old RS .sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

In mid 1980's a proper Rs was £600 , lol . I used to get £300 a week so i could buy tons of them (and did) . They were all rotten back then though and there was pages of them for sale every week . Good times though , especially when my mate Terry bought rusty Lotus cortina mk1 all complete for £700 .sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .

Is it just cars that have a non RS shell that you're worried about? Or is it say a Mexico but fitted with a 2ltr engine, 5 sp box etc? They are both non genuine so why are engine swaps acceptable but not shells? I mean teh 2 ltr engine may even have originally been fitted in a Transit, Cortina, Sierra etc so couldn't possibly be "RS"
