Still trying to put miles on my engine ( running in ), so its dry and I went out for a drive to show the car to some mates, got a great reception from all. All was good until I got home to a printed letter from a neighbor saying how.I should be more respectful and stop being so noisy with my car and that I should get it fixed by a professional and that enough is enough. I am very considerate with my neighbors and get on well with all of them, so all my wife and I can think is that it is a neighbor over the way from us. Oh well off to search the net for a 6 box exhaust system now. There got that of my chest.

what are you driving cant be that noisy although some people just dont get it. Cant see why somebodys sending letters like that unless they have small children getting woken up, more likely some car hating nobody that thinks we are killing the world when we start an engine. The sort that thinks his electric car is charged by renewables and looks down his nose at everyone else........ scaring pedestrians because his car is too quiet

starting your car mid morn and afternoon tut tut you really should have more thought for the people around you.... a thought like open exhaust manifold and carb bellmouths about 4 in the morning. Honestly cant see anyone who matters having any probs with what you do, enjoy your car and website

Sorry to hear about that letter mate, try starting the car at 6 in the morning and 7pm for a few weeks. Im sure they will then be glad to hear it at 10.30 and 3pm then
Could always have it break down coincidentally outside there house and have to spend a few hours outside their house fixing it! More than one way to skin a cat as they say.

everybody is different you will get lots of support on here as everybody is a petrolhead you have all to live there so try and get on after all it could be your fault for not having a sense of humor as it could be a wind up

Bugger them I say, if the car is not sat still revving its tits off and its driven within respectable hours then what do they expect. For sure neighbourly love is ok (not that I speak to my neighbours mind you ) but they really do need to consider that we are all different. If they want their way they should buy a 5 acre block and plonk a house in the middle of it.

I'd write a open letter back to the surrounding neighbours, mentioning the letter (and that it was not signed).

State what you are doing (as you mentioned) and that if anyone has any specific issue then to approach you direct.

Peer presure will shut them up if its just one and honesty will be appreciated if it's a few. Least you'll be open and seem more than reasonable to the rest in my mind.

I think if you are doing what you say you are, it's not unreasonable and they should get a life.

It could, as said be a wind up too!!
