May take you up on that as Melbourne is one of the stops where my wife is teaching for a few days and I will have time to look around.

The idea is to try and get a feel for a place (if that is possible in a week!!) and work out what I can do for a living there!!

Think I might have to requalify as I run my own business in the IT WAN/LAN industry and I'll have to work for someone if I come over. Not a issue with that but it could be a good time for a change if I struggle to get into that market. I was under the impression that unless your on the wanted list, it's a aussy person before you in the job pecking list. I understand that (and wish we did that over here!!)

My back ground was mechanical/electronic engineering (in the forces) and I've thought of going to night school and getting the car mechanicing qualifications to be honest.

With your background quals you''ll have no issues at all gettting a job in the resources sector (WA is booming in oil/gas/mining). The pecking order is a load of cobblers if you're skilled you're in and of course I too offer free coffee tea if Perth is a stop over for you.
