Great thread, some great memory joggers!
Barry Lee came to my school in a Mk1 to do a display about how much quicker it is to drive smoothly rather than spinning the wheels and going sideways....uum enough said on that! This was in about 1981. Then my neighbour got into banger racing, he always had Mk1's and I remember him going sideways in the snow on the corner outside my house, great memory!
I bought an Allegro as my second car for a grand thought it was lovely and sold it a month later for 500 quid with a knackered gearbox! My worst ever move. The next car could only be better, a K plate Mex for £800 in white wow what a car it took me everywhere including backwards off a roundabout lol. It got the full treatment cage cibies lowered Capri Recaro seats etc.
Then I got the Twincam bug....

Dad had 1300gt for 8 years whilst I was growing up. I loved it, he also traded in Fords, Capris, Cortinas, Fiestas etc. I vowed I would own Escorts when I grew up, so far I've had, 1300E Escort, Mexico replica Escort, RS1800 zetec engined mk1 and Daytona Yellow mk1 with 1700cc xflow being fitted. So, basically my story is, it's all my Dad`s fault.
