  • So why Escorts???

For me when i was a kid you either wanted a mini or an Escort...Capris where just a dream as they were too expensive to buy and insure..The first night rallies i watched in the mid 80's cemented Escorts in my brain, the speed and the sound was awesome!!.I had a break of 20+ years but they never left me...So why do you love Escorts?
    Lets here your story..

Happy times, learning to drive in a flat front rs2000!!!...

My older brother had a few,I learned to drive in my brothers rs 2000 flat front, his mates had them, they always met up at my grans house on a Sunday, having brews, messing about with them, washing them,my gran making them endless supply of home made chips, she love having them round to keep her company as my grandad died a few years earlier, anyway, got my first escort when I passed my test, very easy car to work and learn on,parts where cheap then too, unlike today's prices happy days, just love the sound of the janspeed exhaust back then, they sounded so sweet!!!!,they where good times....

For me it's because they really are a drug....

                  I started as a user
                  became a pusher
                  then ended up dealing

                  Definitely a life long addiction.
                  Mark....

My dad bought this escort harrier when I was 10
We went to watch rallies together in it etc
                    I was hooked!

In 1990 car was stolen/ recovered and dad was paid out by insurance and she was taken away!

It recently re emerged, been stood about 23 years
I saw a pic of it, and bought it back! (sentimental)
In the car was a drawing of an escort I did when I was 10 lol!

Ive had lots of escorts since and my job involves escorts etc etc
If dad never had this car would I be interested in escorts?
Would I do the job I do? Who knows!

That's where it started for me!

My first car was an escort mk1 1100 deluxe. That was back in 1988 when their was plenty of them and they were cheap 24 year on you lucky to see one on the road and as for the price
My mk1 when I got it and when I sold it for a 16 sport

Because when I wasnt at school or doing home work, I was helping my dad with his rally car. Escorts and mini engines were the sound track to my youth!!

I had a 20 year gap after bending the last of my escorts on a stage but kept the mini. Now I've the time and space, I've got escort again in the garage and I can't keep my now retired dad away.

Oh, I agree with Alan, Mr Clark was a major influence for me too.
