    Lets get a list going with pros and cons :

    1= M3 CSL :
    Good points,
    Fast , sounds good , goes sideways a treat , rare and desirable , no rust .
    Bad points ,
    Shite gearbox .

    2= Subaru 22b .
    Good points ,
    Fast , rare and desirable , no rust .
    Bad points ,
    4WD so no sideways unless on mud , lol .

    These are probably the best two so far so keep them comming .

      Clio V6 is another good bet i feel .
      I had a pucker Renault 5 turbo 2 for 10 years and then sold it a few years back just before they doubled in price !!!

        I read something elsewhere (might have been Pistonheads) regarding the M3 and the view was that they haven't bottomed out yet...

        Even if they have it's hardly an investment as such (very few cars are IMHO) as the money spent on maintaining, tax and insurance would cancel out any small increase in value in the short term. Of course if you're buying it for fun then what the heck, just don't be under any 'investment' illusions. My parents paid £4,500 for their RS2000 in 1979 and once I get it back on the road would be worth maybe £10-12k? That's a pretty poor investment over 30+ years.

          Yes i'm not interested in making a profit but i don't want the modern purchase too lose all it's value as the classic cars i'm thinking of selling don't depreciate at all .
          If the garage rent wasn't going up then i'd just keep the old cars as i still like them alot . I used to pay £5 a week each for the garages but since then the price is creeping upto £15-£20 each as they are near the town centre .
          Losing 3x lock up garages and 3x cars will save me at least £50 a week rent now plus i'll save 3x insurances , 3x mot's , 3x running costs , 3x rusty bodies , etc etc .
          Well that's what i thought anyway .

              disagree, the csl SMG is totally different to the standard e46 m3 SMG, think it maybe just software but having driven both, the CSL was much much more responsive when it was on song.

              as for day to day driving you just stick it in full auto and plod around

                        I like those as well as a proper hot rod racer but they will no doubt fall too bits like an old Escort does , lol .

                            Topaz i've just had a look on the CSL web site and there's talk of the dreaded E46 boot floor cracking problem on there .
                            What's the score with this exactly , is it a main dealer warranty claim still or a £3000 private pay out etc or is it just scare mongering ?
