Just had a quick look at my car tonight and the petrol pipes fitted new a few years ago are at least 1.5mm swollen in diameter and also they feel softer. With removing the petrol cap I can feel that the tank hose is slightly sticky. I am now concerned that the service kit fitted to my carb is deteriorating and the new Ford Petrol Pump diaphragm is turning to jelly. I've been lucky in the past and have enjoyed my car giving me good reliable service, but all this now makes me wonder how this will now last!

It would be very useful now to find out what can be replaced with Ethanol resistant parts. Perhaps we can list them on this thread and try work out ways of overcoming this problem. This may include treatments to existing parts etc.

Well if Millers can get rid...so can we for a lot cheaper....I'll get on to my chemist mates from the refinery and ask them what they know about neutralising it.

Absolutely. Instead of changing every bit of petrol effected pipework and carbs, change the petrol.
